That’s a lot of mid round picks!
Oh sweet he’s gonna play in Canadian Detroit!
Since it’s come up in other discussions, for the newbs: This move does not affect Wright’s status with the Kraken. He is still under contract to them. This is more analogous to if Matty Beniers had transferred from U of Michigan to U of Minnesota after the Kraken drafted him. OHL is « amateur » development, not a minor-pro league.
Edit: Looks like Wright is also doing the reverse Grubauer. Gru won an OHL champ and Memorial Cup with Windsor and was then traded to Kingston the next season.
Good thing Windsor got that 14th round conditional pick. That was key to the whole deal.
This means I can get a chance to actually watch Wright in person, without having to wait for the Kraken to come to town. So excited!
Holy shit that’s a huge haul for Kingston.
Last I heard it was going to be London, guess Windsor went all in. Hope it’s a positive experience for Wright and his development.
He gets to learn under Marc Savard, head coach of the Spitfires. Savard himself has a pretty interesting background. Gifted playmaker for the Boston Bruins whose career got cut short injuries. Could see Shane learning a ton from this guy.
