Mercer has such an amazing attitude and work ethic. He plays like a 10 year vet. Exactly the kinda player every good team needs.
That is probably the most significant Devils regular season win in terms of making the playoffs in 5+ years. Taking down the division leader at home in regulation. Way bigger than holding off either of the imposters across the hudson. Skated with the big boys and came out on top. That ain’t half bad fellas, tell ya hwat, that ain’t bad.

They looked different tonight. Much faster like they did earlier in the season.
Weeksy is a gem
Two shorties conceded sucks, but they’re as a result of obvious errors which can be corrected. Second goal of theirs was a complete fluke. Our PP needs work.
On the other hand, Mercer showed he deserves to spend the road trip on Hughes’ line, a couple of beauties for 2G 1A. Hischier, Boqvist, McLeod also with multi-point games. Plenty of spirit to fight back at 3-1 down and go into the 2nd intermission level. Endeavour can make up for bad luck elsewhere. More to come – LGD.

2nd in the Metro. 5th in the league at the halfway point.
Despite December’s woes, we wouldn’t have believed we’d be here at the start of the season but would have been thrilled with it.
Money Puck says we should have clearly lost. But it is more complicated that that.
What really happened: Played them close to even in the first (except for a flurry of chances for Carolina in the last couple of minutes). Carolina absolutely dominated by a huge margin in the second. All hail Vitek in the 2nd for keeping us in it. Then the Devils outplayed Carolina but just enough in the third. Devils took max advantage of chances in the third (thank you Mercer!!!!)

Out-Speeding the Canes had them shook honestly. This team seems to have rebooted and decided “fuck this league” and I’m here for it. Especially when we’re about to add 2 elite D-men. And do I ever hate the Canes. This is glorious.
