The Canucks would have had a fabulous 80's….if they traded the Oilers, Flames, Islanders, Flyers, Bruins, Capitals, and Habs to India for some sandwich artists and cleaning ladies.
Wow, the 90s version of this would be epic. The insane amount that happened that decade is like 100x of that 80s.
The Vancouver Canucks had better talent on their team during the 1980s, more so than the 1970s. It baffles me with players like Tony Tanti, Patrik Sundstrom, Cam Neely, Ivan Bolderev, Ivan Hylinka, Rick Lanz, Stan Smyl, Thomas Gradin, Darcy Rota, and Curt Fraser and they couldn't accomplish one winning hockey season in that decade. They managed two winning seasons in the mid 1970s lead by a fine goaltender in Gary Smith. Fortunes would change for them by the time they brought in Pat Quinn and Brian Burke as their coaching and management staff in the late 80s.
