Yeah, shootouts suck. I’m just glad the NHL doesn’t use them in playoff games like so many football leagues do. I like 3v3, wouldn’t mind extending it to 10 minutes, but from a statistical standpoint, it doesn’t seem like ityreally much better.

Kill the shootout. 3v3 until a goal is scored.
Add the following rules:
Once the puck goes over the blue line, the offensive team may not bring it over and back.
Shot clock. Once possession is taken, the offensive team has 30 seconds to make an attempted shit on net.

Maybe 2 points regulation win, 1 point overtime win, and a shootout win is its own stat used for tiebreakers – no points awarded.
