Another solid win on the road by the lightning. Strong start to the road trip. Stamkos has been snake bitten the last two games, hopefully he can get 500 in Vancouver. Let’s go bolts!
The lightning was able to hold the Kraken to one Goal this game that's nice because this Kraken team is tied at number #2 with the Bruins for most Goals in the NHL per game.
That was a pretty tough loss, but we've just won 8 in a row. No need to be greedy.
All in all, defensive breakdowns are what bit us. Dunn overskating the puck, oleksiak forced to make a split second decision on man coverage and the guy he doesn't pick tips the shot in, stuff like that. As I was watching this game earlier there was something I noticed. A big part of Seattle's play is putting the puck into an area where they have someone who's going to be there/swinging by. It's what makes us so deadly on the rush. There's always another player circling around just waiting for the puck to come to them. Tampa was reading this like a book all game long. Any time we'd try to rim the puck around, Tampa was in front of our guys intercepting the play. We play wide and spread out, but the routes our players take can become predictable and a fast team like Tampa can recognize the patterns and intercept the play before we can even touch the puck. As a team, seattle has to be more adaptable and able to change up their style when our opponent has us dialed in like this. Honestly hats off to the lightning. They played a hell of a game. They brought our win streak to an end, and you can't even be mad about it given how they played tonight. For whatever reason the Kraken are better on the road anyways lol I still can't figure out why. Maybe we just get more gritty, play with more of a chip on our shoulders than when at home.
Tough loss but easily rectifiable mistakes. If we're making a playoff run we have plenty of time for system changes and audibles when our opponents have us dialed like tonight.
