Russians take their culture and beliefs very serious. Its crazy how big of a deal someone not participating in something can be. I don’t see the league or media making a big deal out of Ovechkin openly supporting Putin. If Ivan not participating in something that goes against his religion and culture means he has no respect for the LGBQT community and its a hate thing than I guess Ovechkin has no respect for and hates all Ukrainian’s because he openly supports someone who has made them suffer through war and ruined countless innocent peoples lives. Thats how people want to look at things I guess. Such a shame Ivan has to deal with such nonsense. Its like celebrating or not celebrating christmas or believing in god or not believing in god and being told your beliefs/cultures/religion doesn’t matter and you should just change it all to make others feel better.
