  1. Will Timo be great wherever he goes? Sure. Will the return equal his production? No. Will the Sharks care when the loss of his production makes them lose enough games to get a guaranteed top 5 draft pick? No. The real winning of trading Timo will be what we get with our draft pick. If we manage to get Bedard? You’re laughing all the way to the bank.

  2. Do you see a scenario where the Rangers trade Lafreniere and a first for Timo Meier?

  3. A Timo trade will be disastrous. Timo is young, he’s skilled, he scores, and he’s not even hit his prime. Do not trade Timo Meier.

  4. You're preaching to the choir. Trading a guy who's in his 30's I can deal with. Meier is 26 and just coming into his own as a 40 goal per season scorer. He is the type of guy you rebuild around, not trade away for the uncertainty of a high draft choice unless you absolutely know he won't resign.

  5. best for the Sharks to trade him and best for Timo to BE traded. go to NJ and play with Jack and Nico and possibly win a SC. by the time the Sharks are seriously contending again, Timo will be well past his best days. so good for the Sharks to extract Holtz+2023 1st+2024 1st. or trade with NYR and get Lafreniere+2023 1st. if they won't move Laffy, consider Othmann+Jones+2023 1st+ 2024 1st.

  6. i'd take a chance on a Caden Price in that pick range, JD, while taking more of a "safer" pick with the Sharks in the top 5. let's not pretend like Timo is an AM34, but we can extract a top prospect and some 1st rd picks from someone for him.

  7. This missed the whole point. Even if Meier is game breaking, we can't compete at this time anyway. Your trading a current asset into future assets when it's actually helpful.

  8. I can’t see this team lose Meier, he is a great player. We would be lucky if the draft pick ends up being a guy with half of his skill.

  9. Yes, keep him. I think with Tommy staying for the long haul and EK65 saying he loves it there and not wanting to go anywhere might entice Timo to stay. A roster of Timo, Hertl, EK65, Barabanov and Sturm going forward and then throwing Eklund and Bords in the mix with another high end draft pic this year… this could be an exciting roster. However, a solid GT tandem and a better stay at home defensemen is needed.

  10. As a non sharks fan I don’t think u would lose a Timo trade. The high end picks and prospects plus the cap space u would save would be worth it. The sharks ain’t gonna be good anytime soon and by the time u guys may be good again he will be out of his prime. Plus your cap situation is already bad I don’t think it would be good to tie up more high end money to a player.

  11. Timo has consistently been a dominant player when the team has been absolute garbage the past 2 seasons. I can see it now: Mike Grier feeling like he fleeced a team by getting Jordan Staal, a 29-year old AHL player, and a 4th round pick.
