The players are not the problem. You can't keep doing the same thing over and over hoping to get different results. Kidd will have to change his coaching style if the Mavs are going to be successful. I don't believe that he is a bad coach, only that he needs to change his approach to games. Other teams have figured out that if they can harass Luka's game, they have a good chance of winning.

Trading away first round picks has never made much sense to me. The up and coming teams keep their picks and acquire more. Look out for Oklahoma going forward. They are building something special.

It all makes sense, there is a lot of talk about the Mavericks conserving Cap space to make a big move in free agency during the summer. Unfortunately in the past that hasn't worked out all that well for the Mavericks. I'm sure Doncic is telling the Mavericks don't wait until next summer let's make a move now.

There's no quick fix to building a roster. This theory that they could wave a magic wand and then go out and get one player and they'll be a championship team is fake. It takes years of building a roster to have a championship team it takes years of sacrifice by the top players.
I’m in the camp of not trading any 1st rd picks now and instead waiting until de offseason to make mayor improvements to the roster. If we can do a S&T with the Pacers for Turner and then use the picks/assets to trade for say OG Anunoby, now were talking. That’s a championship caliber team right there.

These developments seem healthy actually
1) pls leave Luka out of roster selection / trades. Stop stirring the pot taking his name (media, fans pls. Let the kid focus on the game). He is not going anywhere so no talks about him leaving until final year of the contract.
He is no Dirk either who would serve Mavs endlessly. That’s for Cuban.
2) pls put all the pressure on FO and Cuban. It’s fair. It’s their job.
3) sideways trades are useless because the new guy will not be able to carry team over the line.
Though it is worth talking about likes of Bojan, Rozier, Siakam, OG, and Levine.
4) CW, SD, and THJ is more than decent second tier. They all have to fire together. At least two of them with Luka. It is Kidd’s job to make two of them score over twenty pts.
5) Extremely frustrating that coaching staff cannot revive JVM. He has got talent (height) and should be swatting twenty shots a night instead of given up. That’s on coaching staff. It is hard to take that the Mavs have lost ten games for poor defense while JVM sits there.
I wish the front office would stop with the window dressing and sign a top 10 player.

The last thing the mavs team need is the chemistry to go out the window, cause their fans like to gossip about who said what. I couldn't think of a better sabotage than putting the team spirit on the line and Luka in the spotlight. Media does nothing positive for this situation whatsoever, so why tf are people so impatient and pointing fingers where it's best for the team if we find out when it happens. We all agree that Luka needs help around him, but why get involved in this situation where the whole front office knows their shit more than any fan will. Mavs do NOT need this kind of gossip reporting, we can even blow good deals ffs..

the mavs front office is just lazy. you don't have to make big splashy moves; just get guys on the cheap like christian wood who may or may not mesh with luka but are still worth a shot. low risk high reward guys. guys like yuta watanabe who seemed on the brink of a breakthrough season this year with the nets. good defender, good 3 point shooter (excellent this year but i think it's an outlier), 6' 9" and switchable. could he be that mikal bridges 3-and-d guy with starter's (or at least reggie bullock's) minutes? these guys are available. why not roll the dice on mac mcclung as an electric off-the-bench scorer and third ballhandler? rui hachimura's a bit of a positional enigma but he's got tons of potential and can't be that expensive. these players are out there. the mavs could have had lauri markannen, jerami grant, or dejounte murray without bankrupting their assets.
the mavs most underrated trade partner would be orlando. obviously they won't trade fritz wagner or paulo or wendell carter, but how about mo bamba? a young rim running center with upside and energy. do the magic still love cole anthony? they'd never trade fritz but how about his brother mo? mo wagner is averaging 11 and 6 this year on good efficiency. moves are out there. i get not sacrificing all your trade capital on a big swing yet, but the mavs should worry if they even have the assets to make that kind of big swing. nobody's taking davis bertan's contract (or tim hardaway jr.'s or javale's or dwight powell's) and a 1st rounder for a genuinely good player.

They HAVE to sign C. Wood to the 4 year max deal, with is reportedly $77 million. That's about the same as Hardaway Jr. Even if they don't want to keep him long term, he becomes a more valuable asset as soon as he is under contract.
