With the position the bruins are in they can do whatever they wan

Why should I give a fuck? Many professionals have to (are supposed to) come together to create a plan that works best to get wins. If that means a player needs to take breaks for rest or so others can get more ice time, whatever. They know infinitely more about the situation and how to play/coach/train than we do
GrayRoberts
If the Bruins can’t win games without Bergy they don’t deserve him.
el_powerful
Hes 37, bruins are in a really secure spot, definitely can’t hurt.
Toiletboy4
He just took a puck to the face and came back into the game up 4-1
ParamedicOver2534
Considering the playoffs in NHL are essentially another half season, love the idea. Regular Season matters zilch
anthkraken
I guess?
Seems like they could play him 10-12 minutes a lot of nights.
As long as it doesn’t become “we’re gonna sit McDavid out of all eastern games” level of unfun.
robshot295
With our depth, we can afford to rest Bergy. He’s gonna be more important in the playoffs, we’re better off keeping him well rested
BrokenArmsFrigidMom
Totally. They’re comfortable as far as the standings go, but a president’s trophy doesn’t mean anything without a cup. They should be sitting anyone with a tweaked ankle a hangnail or a hangover at this point.
Deuce_Bostitute
Smart move on their part.
NomadicNematode128
Bergy fantasy owners in shambles.
Numerous_Resist_8863
For certain guys (Bergeron, Krejčí, & Marchand) yes.
connor8383
In the bruins case? Sure. They’re on pace for the best record in league history rn right?
They’ll need guys like bergy fresh in the spring.

to be fair … who cares what fans support when it comes to okayed usage. i trust the pros to make those calls.

Healthy scratch or limiting minutes ?
Fragranceofstanley
Patrice play for the Celtics?
Jtheroofer42
Not a chance in hell. As an out of market Bruins fan, I pay good money to see these guys once or twice a year, and I wanna see the best possible team
fdisfragameosoldiers
Given how far ahead the Bruins are and Patrice’s age, it makes a lot of sense to rest him a bit.
rlxdengineer
Absolutely. I mean why not? If the team will do better, it is absolutely correct to do that. Why now save some gas in the tank for playoffs
TheZebrraKing
I don’t care if they are not forcing the player to do it. If the player wants to play let them play. If they want to take the day off let them.

Load mgmt should mean reduced minutes. As long as it’s not entire games off like the NBA is doing. You pay to go to a game and the stars just decide they won’t play that day… Leagues need to offer refunds if players keep doing this.
kirill_da_thrill
Strongly against load management. Makes the NBA kinda shitty tbh.
A. It’s a team sport. Sitting out because you are too important to get injured bu the rest of the team can???
B. Regular season becomes much more boring.
C. Even playing half the games you can get i jured. Sure the risk is lower, but there will always be times when a star player gets injured even with load management, at the cost of A and B.
Solution is simple: if an older player or a star player is lightly injured, it is fine to take the proper precautions and let them sit even though they COULD play.
Contracts should still not allow players to sit out games because they are star players and need to be top shape for the playoffs or wtv

Imagine being so good you can « rest » one of your best players
DegenGolfer
I support this absolutely. We have a ton of back to backs to end the season and I wouldn’t mind sitting our guys
bostondangler
Yes.
Fastsmitty47
I think it can help for the playoffs. I think its good that they wanted go speak with him about it in order to get his take on it
JacquesEvans
Habs should’ve done that with Weber and his career is over. So it’s not a bad idea
msumms77
I think he should play every game, just watch playing time
podunk19
I HATE the Bruins. Hate them. So much.
But, if they’re going after a cup this year, keeping Bergeron fresh is the right thing to do. You want that guy ready to go in the playoffs. And they can afford to slip a bit.
knuknut
No! Fans have hockey pools. Get out there and get me my $20 worth
stinkybunger
For vets like bergy yes for sure especially considering how good the team is
N1njahunterx
Absolutely, all the other 4 major north american sports leagues do it, and we fairly often see rosters absolutely ravaged by injuries in the playoffs, seriously, there’s always at least 2.
