  1. I'm still ticked at the goal that was called back. What an absolutely brutal call.

  2. Hyman is such a beauty. Tied for the team lead in plus/minus while already toppling his previous season best point totals.

  3. Bouchard really coasted on that Vanc goal. He is so graceful but just glides and watches the other players A LOT. Makes it look like he is in the play/fakes it … but is actually looking away & on the outside of the guy he is covering. No surprise that he is minus5 – it seems the coaches prefer to not confront him as it would take away some satisfaction? Otherwise amazing progress -nicely in the mix to make the playoffs. it looks possible

  4. I did see Bouchard coasting on that first goal against. This is the killer on Oilers’ defensive game: no sense of urgency. Bouchard has always been too slow to react.

  5. I think oilers should bring back Chris Russell was sold defensively he blocked shot and move puck since he is gone we don’t have good defence we need stay home defence

  6. I wonder if the leash is as short as it is with fans as it is with management and coaches for Bouchard. Shultz 2.0. Too soft and slow to react defensively. Probably the biggest wimp on the roster. Not a good look when you’re a Dman. Broberg looks miles better defensively.

  7. Came out strong, went up 2, and decided to float. This should have been about 6-0 or 6-1 ish. No killer instinct to be seen imo, but 2 points in an easy win is still 2 points.

  8. Is “poplectic” the opposite of apoplectic?

Things are looking good if they can continue to improve on defense. Oilers are healthier, some players are really taking form, they’re maturing between the ears as a team, and the schedule just before and after the all-star break (with no back to backs until March) looks like an opportunity to get close to top spot in the division, if not conference. As Dave and Bruce noted, they’ll need the cushion before heading into a tough stretch run, seeing LA, Vegas, Col, Jets, Leafs, Bruins 2x each.

As for games against lower teams, a “should-win” is a “must-win”.

  9. Pederson hit on Broberg
$100 says it doesn’t happen if it was anyone else but the young Swede
Manson needed to whisper in Broberg s ear to go take a run at that guy because even the softest of Swedes thinks he’s easy and safe pickins

  10. I believe it should of counted, but, you said it. Kinda gave Boudreau a chance for a win still.

  11. was really nervous in the third, but the boys did it. nice winning streak. Still enough time to get Kane going during the season. Im optimistic right now 😀

  12. The boys are playing good hockey! Offense, Defense and Goaltending! 11/7 just works for this team.

  13. Ebbs and flows…. right now its flowing ~ enjoying the moments. This team has lots to prove…. keep up the steam with few letdowns.

  14. More Desharnais and less Bouchard, please. Broberg's play in this game regressed again. His pinch on the first Canuck goal was overextended and he didn't even skate hard to try to get back into the play. Several times, his lack of quickness (and, or focus) allowed the Canucks to repossess the puck. At least Desharnais' reach allows him to react to mistakes and allows him to live up to his nickname of "seaweed" when his opponents steal the puck. … Skinner and Hyman are going to be huge assets for the Oilers if they make the playoffs.

  15. I will admitt Oilers are passing as a team better now, so frustrating before when other teams were passing like that and we were getting outplayed many nights. Great improvement. Oilers did coast for alot of the game when they were up.

  16. Like Maria from the sound of music, Bouchard was singing “ these hills are alive”, while gazing into the rafters and taking in the crisp air as he glided along the open area of the ice.

  17. This kinda feels weird to say, but i think Bouch is being passed overall by Broberg.
Bouch looks slow af and kinda lost /weak on defence, also not putting up points really.

Broberg is noticably getting stronger defensively which is exactly what we need.
He might be higher than Bouch on the depth chart in a year or 2 at this rate.
Not a bad problem to have but kinda worrying

  18. Homer call guys. It was definitely goaltender interference. It wasn't the kicking of the pad. When the goalie went to play the puck he couldn't because there was a Hyman in his crease. On the goaltenders stick and blocker.
