I feel like early/mid 80s Oilers shouldn’t count lol

Boston is +1.7 G/gm this year, the 77 Canadiens were +2.7.

Am I blind, or does the last picture not have all teams in it?

Post-lockout sens were great in the regular season

i was just thinking last night that if they win 26 of their remaining 36 games, they’ll set a new record for most W’s in a regular season. its insane what they’re doing, esp. when a lot of people probably had them as a WC team, going into this season.

Sorry to be pedantic, but between the x-axis being stretched in the first graph, the origin not being (0,0), and the axis labels being hard to read… it feels like these graphs are meant to be misleading. I’m sure you made the graphs as you did to make the most out of negative space. However, I think it’s best to include an unaltered version to show how these actually line up.
My problem with hockey/sports stats is the number of times we hear garbage like, « this is the first time a team has won all their Tuesday games in a season… ever! » or « Draisaitl has broken the record for most points scored in less than 12 games in February! » These claims of excellence are shit.
That said… I love your actual use of data, and using the Pareto frontier to show the significance of how well the Bruins are doing! (pains me to write that) Aesthetically, the data is gorgeous and easy to understand.
Hence my skepticism at your difficult-to-decipher graphs. Are they lying to me to seem more relevant like most hockey stats, or are they honest and awesome? They seem great – I’d just love to see the unaltered, pre-insta version too.
