I know this is hard, but I think trading him is necessary to take the next step
The Jets traded Andrew Copp to the Rangers last year for two seconds and a fifth. There’s no way you can’t get a first and a prospect for Larkin. He’s a MUCH better player than Copp.
They better or I’ll be pissed and be questioning what’s going on. Just saw something tho that a done deal is coming
Larkin is not close to a $9 million player. He and Bert can both leave. We don't need Yzerman to copy the Holland formula of overpaying his talent.
Larkin is vastly overpaid
When Yzerman traded AA and Mantha, I was pissed at first but now when I see them and us, realized it actually helped the team a lot. Still think blashill ruined AA. Bert is gone and I think that will improve the team since the man can’t stay healthy.
Seider and Raymond have definitely been better in the past 15-20 games. With that said they’re 20&21 in sure they’ll improve a lot so we need room to sign them in two years
Is it time to maybe question Yzerman a little bit? Not saying call for him to be fired at all, and you’re delusional if u want that, but at some point is criticism towards him warranted?
Trade larkin for horvat before the deadline. Maybe give them a late pick for horvat too and then you have a center actually worth 7-9mil. Then maybe Steve can get one or two FA this summer if he drops some players like erne,Bert, suter and bring up Lombardi possibly
Chiarot was traded for a first as a rental, for sure Larkin is worth more than him
You have to look at it like this: Yzerman will do what's right for the team. When he was GM of Tampa, he traded their then captain Martin St Louis and almost traded Stamkos. He's not afraid to make moves to benefit the team. Now, Holland would give him 10 million per season for 8 seasons regardless of production. Holland values loyalty over anything and we saw that with all the horrendous contracts at the end of his tenure. If trading Larkin is what's best for the team, so be it. I don't think that'll be the case now because Larkin's passion for the game and this team is a great motivator, but is it worth 10 million a year? Nope. 7/8 million ok especially if it's say 4 years. We really could use a #1 center in this league and whether that comes through the draft or via trade or FA, so be it. I love the kid, but I trust Yzerman given his time as a player, his work in Tampa, and so far what he's done in Detroit.
He isn’t going anywhere
seider and raymond are gonna be stars!
He left a while ago
What do we do if we lose Larkin? Nobody currently in the Wings system looks like they have the talent to replace Larkin. So you go free agency, you think over paying Larkin is bad, just wait till you see what a good free agent center will demand. Also, why would a free agent center even want to come to a team that's at best one to two years from even making the playoffs, let alone being a cup contender. Losing Larkin will set this team back two to three more years. Yzerman may want to play hard ball, but Larkin has a ton of leverage. Most notably his no trade clause.
Lucas Raymond will have more points this year than last season. He's hardly dropping off. You Woodward Sports guys should stick to football, and leave hockey for Mac..😴
hes thinking hell idk wat hes thinking to be honest big contracts deserve big scorers and hes not doing that lately so i might be wrong for saying but he needs to realize he probably should take the offer 🤷♂️🤔
Trade him.. he’s not all that..
Y’all don’t know hockey 😂
6.5m-7m is definitely the sweet spot, would have to agree. 3 MAYBE 4 year ext at best tho.
Larkins not getting less then 8 and he’ll probably get 9
Sign Larkin and trade Bert for D. Fleece the Coyotes!
Don't trade for prospects. If Larkin is moved it should be a blockbuster trade. Picks are too big of a gamble here, at Least you know Larkin adds something positive to the team. It's unknown what spot the Wings get in the draft or how that player performs in the NHL.
Oh captain my captain
