My favorite coach since Hitchcock, which is ironic since they hated each other during that 04 series

I’m a 50+ year old man who has watched hockey since I was 5. I in no way feel that I am an expert or that I know the game anywhere near what a professional does. I like to think I can hold my own in analyzing the game and having a cogent take on what is going down. I also am a reasonably confident person who isn’t easily intimidated.
But if I were a reporter and John was in a mood like this I’d be extremely intimidated and would be second and third guessing myself before asking a question.
I guess it makes you think and do better as a reporter but holy Toledo, Torts does NOT suffer fools!

There were perfectly intelligent questions asked during that presser that Tortorella completely blew off like a child. Some people get all excited by his treatment of the media, but I feel like if you actually sat down and listened to the questions that made him all pissy, you’d realize what a pathetic little act it is.
Torts has done a great job with an underwhelming roster, but he’s still a self-involved jackass when it comes to dealing with the media.

The best is the question about the 4th line and their forechecking. John may as well have said fuck off bro.

If I had to coach TDA, I’d be pissed all the time too. He is even worse than I was expecting.

But seriously, what do these folks want him to say? We all know what the flyers are.

I’d love to see him and Gregg popovich have a conversation

his act is getting old already. i thought i’d be a huge fan of him, but these pouty post games and his praise of provorov’s recent actions changed my mind.

Straight shooter. Ask him obvious or leading questions – the hallmark of lazy journalism – and he opts out. Homey don’t play that nonsense.
It’s not like he’s Bill Bellichik, or the friendlier version of Bellichik in Andy Reid, who both just stonewall EVERY question. And he’s not a Popovich type who will belitte the lazy journalists.
If you ask Torts a legit question, he always gives a legit answer. Ask him stupid shit and he passes. Love this guy.

Do you think when Tippett scores he says « a Tippett goal is a Tippett goal »

What exactly are we celebrating here? Dude gets paid millions to coach a hockey team and isn’t satisfied / composes enough to get through a presser without revealing that he’s a smug ass hole?
