  1. Great show, just missed it live. Laine isn’t gonna want to come here, the rumors were he was a problem with his attitude and lack of defensive play. As for Chychrin, we need a goal scorer, Trotz destroyed Barzy by making him an “all around” player, now Barzy is a figure skater who loses the puck waiting for someone to get open in the O zone. Hate to say it but if Ledecky & Malkin are smart they tell Lou do not sign another player over 27 yrs old and don’t overpay them or sign them longer than 3-4 yrs. The ownership has to be talking about Lou’s failures and the fans displeasure.

  2. Gil, for you and the others that follow you. If the owners are done with Lou at the end of the season and don’t resign him ( hope they don’t ) do the isles promote his son to GM or do they take a look at a former player or do they go after someone with GM credentials ? Personally I’d like to see a former player that was part of the 80s cups team as GM. I’d see if #19 was interested in the spot and let him bring in who he wants to assist him and if he wants to launch Lane, so be it !

  3. HI Gil. Seriously not coming to isles. Horvath, kane, meier, laine, tarasenko, boeser, o' reilly, larkin, bertuzzi, chychrun, or debrincat. Karlsson with that term/$$$'s left is a hard NO. Perhaps 3 x cup winner toews for a first? Slow, a player way past his prime, 35. Toews sounds like a lou type of fetch. Or maybe a first for perron. Good solid vet, 35, who plays the game right and a cup winner. Should just see if habs will take a refund on romanov deal. That first should have gone for some offensive help up front only. Isles need younger cost controlled players, picks for draft capital, prospects. And even if lou could magically work a deal no player will waive ntc to come to nyi. Remember taylor hall two years ago? Lou swung and missed on hall when he would only waive ntc to go to b's and sending lou to fetch palmeiri instead. Lou swung and missed again right before b's got hall at last minute. Hall was a non-factor as b's went out in six in playoffs to isles so it was no big loss. On the flip side isles should trade any asset they have i e varly and mayfield the ufa's to be. Start there. And some serious salary dumping by teams in on the bedard sweepstakes positioning for next season is gonna go down at tdl. That may leave a team or two under the cap minimum (hawks with kane/toews, sj karlsson/meier?) and needing a contract (bailey?) to get back over cap minimum.
Also on the prospect front isle fifth round pick m. maggio leads ohl in g-34 and is second in pts.-61 and is boosted playing with newly acquired 4th overall shane wright as his center as red hot spits have gone on a tear since loading up at ohl tdl two weeks ago.
And bad night as isles lose ground not even playing with pens, sabres, wings all winning and cats picking up bettman loser point isles are now 11th in east. Could be 13th by the time they are done with wings fri. night. I think john cougar or john mellencamp or john cougar mellencamp-one of them-had a song about the isles current plight in the standings. Good non-game night show once again.

  4. Some math for you: playoff line is usually around 95 points. That means the Isles need 44 points at least in 33 games. That's a point percentage of .667 – well above what they've managed in recent years.

  5. I’m probably in the minority here but I feel we need to blow it up. Keep Sorokin, Dobson and Barzal and trade everyone else. Hell maybe tank a couple of years(extreme I know).

  6. They have little to nothing in talent to trade. Bailey? Clutterbuck? Parisi? Ahu? Really? Who in their right mind wants those guys, or any other under size, under achieving scrubs.

  7. We are a team full of bottom 6 forwards except Barzal and Maybe Nelson, or D is real good and our Goaltending is top flight. It's not like the whole team needs rebuilding, it's just the top 6. This is insane, we're closer to being a real contender than people think!

  8. Ownership is FAILING the NY Islanders. Every day that lou is still in charge, is another day wasted for what needs to happen. The islanders are a country club that puts personal relationships over what's best for the team and tramples the objective of winning a cup. Lou was pushed out of Tor for a reason. Now look at the leafs. Anyone here would rather have the isles roster over the leafs? Of course not. I don''t want to hear about the two short seaon ECF runs anymore. MEANS NOTHING!! That's not winning. Almost doesn't count. Clearly the franchise is frozen with country club BS to do the right things. Unwatchable.

  9. My money is on Lou acquiring Tarasenko, if he does anything. He's about all we can afford with our cupboard bare, thanks to Louis.

  10. Hi Gil—-I hear Lou may bring back Trotz over the All Star Break—-that’s either a mandate—-or already been discussed for Lou to step down—maybe become fake President (no pun intended) and Trotz Gm after this season. I did not like the way Trotz handled the kids—-uncle Leo debacle—-however—-they say the “Grass is greener on the other side” well not this time!! I would embrace Trotz return and maybe after the season is over—-he can be a “Great Gm”! I’ll gamble that way—so long as Lou can take his grubby veteran only hands off our team!! Maybe as Gm Trotz can see the light we need speed and youth!! I highly doubt the obnoxious and condescending Lou is doing this because he sees the error in his ways—-he’s not built that way professionally I don’t feel. Mandate or a mutual understanding. Anything to give this fan base some hope again——this can’t continue—Never know if Trotz can change things and without last year’s mummies—-weave some post All Star magic? I can’t believe I’m saying this—-BUT I’d rather have the “Uncle Leo responsible” way—-than this pathetic pond hockey———-Gil if not a blockbuster——WHY NOT?
