The Devils could actually use Horvat. For probably half the season Jack has been playing wing to the center Erik MF Huala on the second line so getting a replacement like Bo would be huge.

Devils are rolling 4 lines, but Mercer has the 3rd line C locked down. Horvat would be playing with Hughes, not playing 3rd line minutes behind Nico and Hughes.

I get the sense that NJ will likely deal with SJ over Vancouver. The Canucks seem to want young guys who could fit in now, so I suspect they would be targeting players like Mercer who the Devils should definitely not be moving. SJ might be more open to taking prospects and picks which the Devils have plenty of. If they went after Meier, I could see something like: Holtz, ‘23 first, ‘24 2nd, and either Muk/Walsh/Gritsyuk.

NJ wants term get JT (can play C or wing better at wing) to them for a 1st and nemec or casey. Vancouver base will want more. NJ says no to letting go of Nemec … a good trade is when both parties feel like they needed more in the trade….. and Bo to the Bruins for Carlo, Lysial and 1st. Shenn to Tampa for Callen Foote or to Maple leafs for Niemela. pipe dream maybe but also a little realistic. Trade Myers in the off season when he is only owed 1 million but cap will be 5 million. if this happens then we will have 3 first this next draft. trade a 1st and 3rd to the Rangers for Lafenierre if Rangers want to trade him. and Brock to Wild for Brock Faber or to Montreal for Owen Beck. This hopefully is the plan in the off season.

Im a Devils fan, who doesnt want Horvat, but the Devils are playing with fire with Hughes. He is the only center, that doesnt take faceoffs. The playoffs will show this. The Devils OT winner against Dallas. Haula takes the draw, then the Devils have to wait till he changes to attack. Hughes is a glorified winger. If you watch his center play, he isnt cutting through defenses. He is floating up ice, down the side with space. I like Meier, but with Meier comes pushing into the dot, and that simply wont work. So Horvat makes some sense, but it may ultimately cost Bratt in free agency if to re-sign him. Tatar and Haula will be gone at seasons end, so will Severson, and most likely Blackwood. So its possible. Im not giving up the 1st though. Ill give you a 3rd, Holtz, and Casey for him though.
