McDavid suggested that Woodcroft put the EBUG into last night's game. That's an All-Star move right there.
Also something I’ve seen from Connor in recent times is that in his game his full speed isn’t always his go-to. When he was still fresh in the NHL you would see him go absolutely full speed down the ice at any chance he could, but recently (also especially after that torn PCL injury that he somehow recovered from) he has toned down his speed a bit.
Now I’m not so much talking about his top speed, but the fact that he seems to use his speed a lot more strategically now, and he has expanded his arsenal of moves he uses so nobody can predict what he’s doing.
Is he gonna zip right past me? Is he gonna do a spin? Is he gonna just snipe the puck? Then he just passes for an easy assist.
At lead from what I noticed, his first couple years he would most likely just try to outskate them instead of anything else. So I think this decision also coincides with his newer style of play.

You really love the sound of your own laugh. The players are down to earth. In five years most of them will be retired and can lay on a beach as often as they want. Yeah, a mid season 10 day break is great, but all who show up still get 4-6 days off.

Although I like the fastest skater competition, I think I'd like to see an actual race between players. Sort of like they did in the 2017? all star weekend. Except players go from goal line to red line, back to blue line, then race to next blue line or something. Like every hockey player did in practices growing up.

I like if they actually made the game meaningful, home ice advantage in the semi's and finals to the winner of the conference and final game of the all-star would make it impactful, perhaps too much so. But if there is weight to the game it can make stars actually want to go and try harder. EA's cover athlete on NHL should at least be the All-star MVP.

Paul Coffey in his prime never competed in the fastest skater competitions. Sometimes it’s better to not have to prove the obvious. Connor is the BEST skater in the NHL, and certainly the fastest while carrying a puck.
He should of the choice to take place in whatever event that he wants to. I always wonder to how the players that are in the All Star Game actually feel about the Weekend. It is always a tough game for me to watch but it is the ONLY Hockey on TV so i feel obligated to tune in
its same for everybody participating not just McDavid…so other players could dispense from Fastest Skater aswell…..but everybody seems to be ok with the special treatment McDavid gets. 🤔
Casual fan here. Is there any purpose for this circus? Is it a money making thing for the league? Because it seems like a waste of time and money. The game is a joke too. Take a one week break every year and let everybody have a vacation with their families. Come back refreshed and get back at it.

My opinion is the same for all PRO sports all star games – it’s not a real game, you don’t get the best value for the expedition, it’s a watered down version of competition. No multi-million $$ contract player goes out and risks the next big payout to benefit him and his brand.

I, like Crosby or Ovechkin, opt to skip the all star weekend as well. I love the game but this is an event meant to be enjoyed by the kids… by which I mean 10 year olds.

It is very similar to NBA stars who stop doing the Dunk competition a little later in their career at the all-star weekend. It is usually a 1-3 year thing max in the last few decades. Maybe once as a defending champion and that's it. It's the new reality and good call. No need to exert yourself both physically and mentally. It is more of a celebration event. A great opportunity for someone new or with less star power to get the spotlight.
