@Devils du New Jersey

If Fitz could get a winger that can put the puck in the net without giving up much that would be great. Small moves for depth, the team is solid as is. Swinging for the fences in free agency is usually a fail. NY Rangers in late 90's early 2000's and Vegas more recently are a good example of this.

  2. I ignore a lot of things about contracts rules, but, it isn't possible Timo resigning for less? Something between Nico's and Jack's contract

  3. More concerned about Bratt re-signing. Would be willing to lose Holtz, Bahl and Thompson for Timo. This team needs more physical presence if they want to go deep in playoffs. Tarasenko isn't the worse idea I've ever heard.

  4. No I think we are gonna get Timo Meier, they said The Devils and Fitzy are the ##1 team going after him in the League we are the #1 team in the sweepstakes and we are the #1 team to land him, we need Timo forget Tarasenko etc those guys are too old.

  5. I mean like you said Brock has a 5 mil cap 🧢 hit, Timo is only asking for 9 mil and he’s even better a top goal scorer and an NHL all star and the chemistry he’d have with Hischier or Hughes definitely we should pick up Timo and he might be the last piece we need to get us the cup, I really believe we will get Timo Meier from the Sharks 🦈.

  6. I don't want Meier if it means not retaining Bratt. Resigning Bratt is one of the most important objectives for Fitzgerald.

I've always wanted to go after a player like Henrique.

    1. He has term ✅
    2. He can play alongside Hughes, if you're not confident with Sharangovich or Haula ✅
    3. If he's not playing with Hughes, he will solidify the bottom six ✅
    4. He can play net front or bumper on PP1 and kill penalties ✅
    5. He won't incinerate the farm. Should be nothing more than a second and a prospect or two ✅
    6. He is clutch as f***. Ranger killer #1 ✅

Edit: I wouldn't mind going after one of the Panther's players in Duclair, Bennett or Reinhart. The Brunette connection is real and taking advantage of Florida's cap situation could force the Cats to make a deal with the Devil.

  7. Meier is expensive but a proven scoring winger that can help NJ have two top lines that are putting pucks in the net with regularity. If his agent (Claude Lemieux) can help facilitate a reasonable extension, then I want the Devils to do their best to acquire him. What I do NOT want is either Tarasenko or Boeser. Tarasenko may be able to score goal, but his injury bug is a constant issue and not worth the risk. Boeser's contract is insane considering his goal production this season. If Fitz is looking for a top 6 winger to help put up goals, Brock is not the guy. He would be fine as a bottom six player for a LOT less money but that's the only reason he would be worth looking into. Sam Reinhart could be a possible target, which could also help the PP, and not cost as much as Meier. That would also leave room to sign Bratt, bring in another piece or two to help add secondary scoring and physicality (like Domi) to the bottom 6 and/or add someone to add to the defense like Mikkola out of StL.

  8. The Sabres and Devils both have the trade pieces but we don’t want to pay him 9-10 million for 8 years. Buffalo is paying their star center only 7.1 million for 7 years starting next year, Tuch makes only 4.75 million for years, we can’t blow the budget on Meier. He would probably be a better fit for Devils but that cap hit not good

  9. It wasn't long ago when we were willing to throw 11 million dollars at johnny gaudreau. I would be stoked to get Timo.

  10. The easy answer is to say Meier and who wouldn’t. But I’d say Boeser if Meier doesn’t work out cause rumors are saying they’d take a 2nd cause of his contract. I think both guys would look great in the red and black , we just have to be careful with future contracts

  11. Meier is everyone’s #1 but Terasanko would be a great fallback option. I would be happy with either, Vladi might be the better choice bc you won’t have to commit long term dollars to. Regardless of who they acquire for the top 6 Don’t be surprised if Fitz adds another gritty two way winger to play on a 3rd line with Haula and Tatar.

    Palat Nico Bratt
    TBD Jack Mercer
    TBD Haula Tatar
    Wood. Mikey Nate

  12. They cannot pay Bratt more than 7 per year. He isn't physical. Need big guys in the playoffs. Trade him.

  13. Well I understand the hesitancy I still think some fans have their rebuild glasses on, and have conditioned themselves to think three or four years ahead.

Yes there are parts of this team that will be great for a long time, but you have some players like Hamilton whose windows are a bit shorter. Trying to anticipate things 3-4 years down the line is practically impossible, and Tmo is such a perfect fit for the next few years. Devils will also have enough players on elc's during that time I don't think the Cap is as much of a problem as it seems

  14. I trust Fitz to not jeopardize the long term competitiveness of the team to make this deal. The cap crunch is what happens when you want to win. Look at Tampa, they spent and they won championships, but you eventually gotta break the team back down. That is how it goes. The 9mil isn't that big a deal with the cap continuing to go up in a vacuum, but the fact is Bratt is playing hardball and I would totally expect him to want as much as, or more, than Timo and that will be the problem. Luckily, you got Hughes and Nico on team friendly deals so it makes it possible, but then you got a shorter window to win in. Last, I will say I think NJ moves on from Tatar and Wood next season unless they take considerable discounts.

  15. I know everyone is saying Meier but I'd rather go for Boeser. He'll cost much less and we won't have to lose Holtz

  16. I was all in on this until that $9 mil popped. Question here… that $9M isn't "bad", so possible trade and sign this year, then trade (with the extension in place) next year? I don't know.

  17. Idk how long we have huges, v, or what's the story with the rosters contracts but hope it works out.

  18. It's time to fleece Vancouver with a package of picks, players, & propects in order to land THE BIG Q HUGHES TUNA.
Put in Boeser with a package deal.
That way Vancouver can truly tank as they should & they completely reload.
Also they can do what's best for hockey & unite the most awesome force in all of hockey, The Hughes Brothers!
