Not a source at all. Just merely speculation. I think us Anaheim fans know it’s time for Dostal. I don’t mind any of those three teams getting him and giving us that return.

But it won’t likely happen. Just something to think about to say the least.

And I don’t mind some type of publicity for the Ducks. Everyone is still talking about Kane and Toews and that damn Horvat trade

Maybe Verbeek surprises us all and gets something good for Stolarz before the deadline and Dostal backs up Gibson next year. Would not be good for Dostal to be #1 right away.

The only one of the three that makes sense is the Penguins. They might not want to re-sign Jarry, Gibson might waive his NMC for them being his childhood team, and they’re in need. I just don’t see anyone else wanting his full salary for that long without a rebound season, and I don’t see Verbeek wanting to retain for that long when we’re going to start having some big contracts to sign as of this and next year.

  4. These speculations are pretty wild. Zero chance he gets moved to the Kings. Sabres getting a goalie is a legit prediction but Stolarz is the obvious better choice. Also curious why they don’t bring up Seattle as a possible destination if they believe intra-division trade is not an issue.

Gibby isn’t a trade deadline player, especially this season. Teams don’t have the cap space for him, so we’d have to retain or take on salary dumps. Fat chance we retain on a guy that has 4 years left on his contract and taking on a $6 million cap dump in this market is worth a 1st alone.

Imo, the cost of Gibby + the cost of freeing up the cap space to facilitate the trade is going to be more than any team is willing to give up for him. Personally, that’s fine with me. I’d rather rock a Gibby/Dostal tandem for 4 years than get anything mentioned in the article.

Another first round pick in this draft? Yes please 🙏 Love Gibby, but also want to see him on a winning team. Might as well get as much as we can from him now if we’re not going to be good for a while.

They’re not trading Gibson. They need his money on the books to stay cap compliant if they trade Klingberg, Shattenkirk and whoever else. Also, teams don’t have the money to absorb it right now – he’s an off-season trade if it happens or they’re going to be taking back a LOT of bad (and probably long-term) contracts.

Most likely they run him as a starter for a couple more years and slowly bring Dostal in, then go to a tandem net, then over time make the switch assuming Dostal continues as he has so far.

  8. Gibson won’t be a Top 5 goalie again, even on a good team. What could happen is he goes on a crazy hot run and carry teams to a deep playoff run like 2019 Binnington. Teams that are young and upcoming (eg. Sabres) won’t want to take the risk tied to his contract. Teams that are aging and desperate (Pittsburgh) might want to take a look at him.
