I grew up with the slug and this was definitely still around, maybe not to the same extent. This song with RJ’s voice IS sabres hockey.

Agree though, Sabre dance needs to be more Prominent than it has been lately. Should be playing when Sabres first take the ice every game.

No you are all clouded by nostalgia. There is nothing cool about your team’s theme song being fucking circus music. Always hated the idea that “oh the name of this instrumental song has ‘sabre’ in it so we should use it.” It’s really nonsensical.
This sub is always lauding the goathead jerseys and how they feel the team looks and plays more badass in them – that is the complete opposite vibe of a song that makes you think you’re at the arena to see the Ringling brothers.

This is probably the number one thing I associate with going to games as a kid. Wish they brought it back.
Back in the nineties, as a grade schooler, our tiny Catholic school from Angola took a trip to Buffalo and visited the Philharmonic. I don’t remember shit from that day except that one of the parent chaperones was fucking clutch with the covert fruit snacks during the performance and the orchestra played Sabre dance.
Every time I hear this it reminds me of this fat guy I saw, drunk out of his mind, who was leaning out of the passenger window of his buddy’s car and waving his finger around in tune to this song, right after a game. That memory is permanently attached to this song.
