Trade or FA signing later? Would be nice for a rotation of Demko and UPL.
UncleOrton
Maybe after the season but I really don’t see how an in season trade for him makes sense. Andy and UPL have been sufficient lately.

Is the idea we’d move Comrie the other way (plus a pick/prospect/whatever)? I cant imagine a team doing paper transactions just so they can carry 3 tendys would go and acquire a 4th lol
JimTheDegen
I’m a Canucks fan 1st and Sabres fan 2nd. Demko is an elite Vezina caliber goalie when he’s healthy and playing at his best (even considering that the Canucke defence has been abysmal). This season injuries and a funk have plagued him.
InsectTop618
i think a rotation of upl/demko could be really good. i wonder if we could get him for fairly cheap since he is having a bit of an off year
the_missing_worker
Woof. No. Absolutely not.
Bad cap hit, $5M until 2027. Thoroughly average production, career high .915. Is currently on injured reserve and doesn’t stay healthy. The only trade which would benefit the Sabres is for Comrie, Vancouver retains half of Demko’s salary, AND they send us both Luke Shenn and a pick. Even then, I think Comrie might have better potential to play regular productive time at the NHL level.
I dont see any fit for him here. We’re already carrying 3 goalies, his SV% is also bad, we have UPL and Comrie locked in for next year, and Levi should be signing at the end of the season and I expect a short (1 season) AHL stint for him before backing up UPL the season after. Just based on Kevyn Adams continually saying he doesn’t want to block the young talent this makes zero sense for Buffalo.

Kinda sounds similar to the Ullmark situation. Bad defense, could be elite with the right d core

It’s takes like this that make me remember just because he’s a popular analyst doesnt mean he knows everything about every team. Demko makes absolutely no sense for the Sabres
PardueHanks
Unless it includes a goalie going the other way, I don’t see it.

No thanks.

Doesn’t make much sense with Levi. Unless they’re not expecting him to sign.
tmaracle77
But I don’t think Thatcher Demko makes a lot of sense for the Sabres. I’m happy rolling with UPL and Comrie next year

Early in the year, sure, but UPL has greatly improved and Andy is still playing very well. I’ll take a D man or Temo thanks.
I_lurk_at_wurk
Makes sense? In what way? We have a rookie Goaltender proving he can start full time, a young backup under contract and veteran backup with 3 months left in his career.
zamend229
He’s playing worse than UPL and Anderson this year, which makes him a nope to me. If UPL is truly our “goaltender of the future”, I wouldn’t take another goalie now that’s playing worse than that even if the’ve had more success in the past. We already have 3 fringe starters on the NHL roster, don’t need a 4th
beardedbuddy8811
He qualified this by saying this was mainly before UPL doing well
defeatedatlast
I think the term is too long for him to be a fit, unless you think Levi won’t be ready for 4 years

Here’s his injury history, for the curious:
