  1. Been a really painful go this year. Watching Binnington get hung out to dry night in and night out, defensive lapses because of coaching or players I don't know, it's beyond frustrating to watch. Sucks to see Binnington especially bouncing back from a really bad regular season and found his motivation and then gets to get dunked on in the media for his numbers. Think many fans agree at this point we want Tarasenko gone because he looks like his bags are packed. Hoping for a better next year after a decent trade deadline.

  2. Thanks much for this, Shannon. We fans are pretty dispirited right now so hearing your knowledgeable thoughts is sort of encouraging. Many here seem to think a total blow up is in order. Hard to know which direction to expect.

  3. Barbashev, Parayko, Vlad, should all be available…get what you can. O’Reilly also if he’s not gonna sign an extension for 2/3 less than his last contract. He’s not a good captain…Buchnevich goes nowhere!!!

  4. Than you for this series of videos. Really good ones. In STL being under review I would look also +/- stats. There are some storylines there. For example Krug and Faulk from D have terrible ones. Then there are couple are about fine. Interesting I think.

  5. If we can pull some moves like the Rangers I’ll be Happy. It will be sad to see Tarasenko leave. But I really think Barbashev can turn things around. I hope they stop giving up the younger guys. Wouldn’t mind trading Saad, not that I’ve been disappointed with play, but we could get a good return. I think If Doug Armstrong makes some smart moves and not huge moves, we could be back in the playoffs next year. But losing some of the frontline guys hurt. Maroon, Sunquisdt, Perron. It’s taking a massive toll and the spots are not being filled properly. I think we have an alright pool of prospects that could be NHL ready come 2-3 years. Anyway excited for the future, sad about the end of this 19’ team.

  6. I guess I'm a Debbie downer. I see a western conference that has too many teams getting better while the boys in blue are getting worse. I don't see them making the playoffs for the next 3 years minimum. Maybe longer.

  7. I think Shannon's cats have the highest hockey IQ out of all domesticated animals in all of North America.

  8. Talented roster that has underachieved this year. Tarasenko is going to be a major pick-up for some team.

  9. Seriously, this season was all about injury. At one point, this team had 5 D's on IR!!! It is hard to move pieces around, and if things go south, it is hard to come back. Sometimes, you need little luck, but so far, they have bad luck, and injuries are piling up. I don't think this team is bad. Few good games will boost their confidence, and they are on the roll.

  10. Hard disagree on the Blues having a good D core. They were bad last year too, they just got carried by Husso playing out of his mind. They’re in a lot of trouble with that weak D core basically all locked up long term and really no hopeful D prospects outside of the injured Perunovich (another offensive defenseman). These guys all have no trade clauses too if I’m not mistaken.
They need a true top pairing defenseman who can play a shutdown role but instead they have a bunch of middle pairing guys and Parayko is the best defender of the bunch which says a lot because he hasn’t played well.

  11. I would like us to retain Niko, Barbashev, and Greiss. I can see the blues getting value and trades for the others. I think we need some blue line players for sure, both Leddy and Parayko this year have been disappointing. I think retirement is catching up to them.

  12. The desperately need a coaching staff rebuild. Not necessarily Berube, but everyone around him needs to GTFO.

  13. I’m on the side of a rebuild. I don’t think Thomas or Kyrou are ever going to be with their contracts. Barbie and Acciari have been our most reliable forwards. Nobody on D is worth anything, especially Krug. This roster just ain’t it.

  14. Blues need to sell. Should come out of this trade deadline and off-season with another 3 first rounders minimum. Plenty of under performing players that need to go. Parayko, Leddy, Krug, Faulk…our whole AHL D is performing better when called up than them. Offensively, Tarasenko, O'Reilly, Saad, Barbashev would all make for solid returns. Not to mention plenty of other young players that could also be dealt as we transition to a much younger team…Mikkola, Perunovich, Etc…

  15. Kyrou is not the mvp, he may have tho most points but he’s just not there yet, he has endless talent but still needs time to put it all together, great skater and great shot but his overall game needs a lot of work, he may lead the team in shots on goal but he’s also up their in turnovers last season and this season
I feel like the mvp is Thomas for sure
Love the video tho my optimism on this season is dwindling we have a good team just not playing like it

  16. The forwards are the problem with the defense. Jordan Kyrou is going to be the most over paid athlete in sports next season. He has to go. If he had half as much brains as he does talent, he would be unstoppable. Bennington is the best goaltender of all time. It's not close. He has had zero chance on every goal but 4 this year. You have to judge goalies by the eye test. Stats are irrelevant when it comes to goalies.

  17. Thanks for this assessment. This has been a disappointing season, but It's good to know that a total rebuild is not necessary.

  18. I love the jersey you're wearing. They need to trade all their soon to be UFA's. It was a fun ride while it lasted.

  19. Unless they give away draft picks or other players, it's not like they could force the Kraken to take Tarasenko. No one was complaining when Tarasenko put up his best point total last year.

  20. Thanks for the video. I've been a Blues fan since 1974 and I have seen some BAD teams over the years.
I think that the defense is inconsistent at times and spectacular other times. IDK what is going on there.
Binnington has been hung out to dry a lot.
I think you are right a "retool/refresh is needed.
Injuries have pagued them as well.

  21. Glad will be gone, and I think Mikkola, Acari, snd Barbashev could also be gone. Oreilly has expressed want to be here and accepting a smaller salary. If it’s something like a 4-5 year deal at 5ish, I say keep him. But we cannot afford him at the 7+ he deserves, at his age.

All in all, there’s a lot of youth coming up and some blue line guys that can be huge impacts, but health, and development will tell the tale. Either way, need to lose some cap to spend some cap.

  22. it has been a very frustrating year in STL. i think they very badly need a retool and to just get their act together. they don't have the strongest team but they are DEFINITELY better than they've been playing this year. it would suck to lose tarasenko but he clearly wants to move on, he'd be a major pick-up for another team. i do hope they keep o'reilly despite all the trade rumors around him

  23. I think their need is between a retool and a rebuild. Tarasenko and O'Reilly should be moved and possibly some of the others but their defense is one of the worst in the league and they need to address that as well.

  24. This defense is just a bad roster. Almost all are underperforming with the exception of maybe Rosen and Bortuzzo

  25. Good stuff. I would put Thomas in that MVP spot tho…. Really wish Parayko would get back to top form. Seems he never got right after being hurt.

  26. I don’t know if the Blues need a “re-tool” as much as they need an “attitude adjustment”. Some of these players just look like they are out there going through the motions and not giving the effort. I recall them looking like that in the first half of 2018-19 and they turned it around, but I think it’s too late for a turnaround this year. I think about the 2018-19 season, and many of the players that were key contributors on that team either are no longer around or are not having good seasons this year. Binnington hasn’t been “bad”, but he’s not playing as well as he was in 2019, and it’s hard to evaluate him “fairly” given the defense around him. Tarasenko and O’Reilly are not having the best of seasons either. Kyrou and Thomas have been “okay” as far as putting pucks in the net, but they have been major liabilities on defense. They are young though, so is the problem immaturity, or poor work ethic, or a little bit of both? Can they learn from their problems this season? All in all though, what I am seeing is that the veteran players have not performed up to expectations for one reason or another (maybe injuries or age caught up with some of them) which is putting more pressure on the younger players to do things that they aren’t “comfortable” with yet.
