Weird they have Bean as our long-term D of the future instead of peeke or boqvist.

I’d say it’s a mixed bag. Lots of talent in the pipeline, but a proper rebuild doesn’t involve getting locked into terrible multi-year contracts for bad veterans. Between Gudbranson, Roslovic, and an increasingly concerning Elvis, we have too many of those.

Would’ve been nice if they gave a reason for thinking that defensemen are more important than forwards when you’re rebuilding. Examples from other teams rebuilding, maybe?

I would like to see us draft another goalie this summer. Seems like our goalie cupboard is nearly depleted, when 3 years ago that looked like our strongest position.

Personally I think after what happened with Kivi his head just isn’t in the right place and who could blame him? He probably even has survivors guilt 🙁
For that reason I’m willing to give Elvis a pass this year. It only happened in summer 2021… Maybe I’m projecting a little bit here but that’s something I wouldn’t get over in less than 2yrs, but that’s just me. I handle death admittedly pretty badly.

Weird article. Bean listed as the future. Talking about defensemen with terms like « top 6 » and « bottom 6 ». Making definitive statements like how to rebuild the right way, as if there’s a road map. Says you don’t draft best player available? Well, that’s what every GM will say is the best thing to do. This author knows better than NHL GMs? I was waiting for the article to start getting into detail on their claims and then the article just ended by making another statement as if they know why Gaudreau and Laine re-signed here.
Bad writing. Bad article.

Really would love to have seen some reasoning behind the claim Jake Bean is looking like a mainstay on the blueline? He hasn’t lived up to his draft potential to date, was by almost all knowledble accounts really in an evaluation year until his season got derailed by inury, and absolutely hasn’t done anything here to earn that level of certainty. And then to claim Culemans is a opening night roster near lock coming right out of college? Is it possible? Sure. But a lock…absolutely not.

I stopped reading when it said Coulemans was a near lock to make the team next year. Did a bot write that article?

Feels like an AI-written article 😬
