@Canucks de Vancouver

#nhl #newyorkislanders #vancouvercanucks #bohorvat

  1. If I had to pick one of these contracts, I would pick Horvat. Even though Miller may be a better point producer, Horvat is better in terms of defensive play, faceoffs, temperament, hockey IQ, turnovers, leadership, and likability.

  2. loved Bo as a canuck … he might not always put up points like he is now in his contract year but he’s always a solid contributor. That said all I can hope for is the isles missing this year and sinking like a stone towards a lotto pick in 2024!

  3. #Isles are 2 points out of a playoff spot after a horrible January and you are counting them out of the playoffs? OY!

  4. Canucks fan here… I’d switch the Horvat/Miller deal in a heartbeat. Horvat will be worth that money in character alone. Miller keeps putting a blemish on the teams reputation with his attitude.

  5. Vancouver fan here. $8.5 mil is a bit much, but Horvat is better personality-wise than Miller. $8 mil for 8 years I definitely would have been okay with, and losing Miller doubly so.

  6. I look forward to Bo falling on his face inside of the next 2 years . Unless you're Sidney Crosby or Alex Oveckin you ain't worth 8 mil a season. And here I thought the era of over paying for players was dead . My bad .

  7. 8 years is just too long maybe 4×8 would be fine but 8×8 is way too long

  8. This is the best NYI signing in over a decade. Yes they overpaid, but after losing out on Johnny Hockey, they had to rebound.

  9. i don’t understand… the Canucks were only going to offer him around 6 million a year. So Bo got what he wanted. This is what the NHL and MLB do, sign Long deals for medium value. But why all the years. I doubt we see him in a NY Islanders Sweater for a full 8 yrs.
    He will be the Center on the 1st line and Matt Barzal on the wing, i can almost guarantee it

  10. Lou is somewhat nuts but I think what he’s saying he’s being blown out of proportion.

    He’s not saying that Bo didn’t get market value for what he’s doing. What he is saying is that the contract is too long and too expensive for players producing at Horvat‘s level.

    It’s kind of like saying eggs are too expensive because of inflation . It’s not the eggs fault. The eggs are getting their value in the market. He’s just thinks that that value is too high.

  11. them getting this deal done so early tells me they are desperate to push for a playoff spot

  12. hes 60+ point player. thats first line production. hes not a second line center lol

  13. I guess this is the response you get when you hand out a contract that may outlive you. 🤷‍♂️
