1. I was at the game, and I have no idea how some of those pucks didn't go in for the Flyers. The Islanders almost gave me several heart attacks.

  2. Loved the first period! Didn’t expect Horvat to come out in sync with Barzel. They had almost no ice time together. They will get there over next couple games! A win tonight was a must and we got it. I know it’s easier said then done, but if they are going to make the playoffs, they need to play the game they played in the first period, every game, for at least 2 out 3 periods!

  3. Typical isle win. Three in a row 2-0, 2-1, 2-1. Two goals given up. Varly was strong and isles actually scored a pp goal. Bo was solid if not on the scoreboard. Good news is isles move into tie for eighth with pens. Pens now have four games in hand and Cats won too. East w c spots are gonna be a dog fight. Probably why lou made the move now and not later when it was too late. Isles would have a helluva time with b's if they get in. The good news is their goaltending could steal a series or two. And isles goaltending beats canes, pens, caps, leafs, nj, sabres, fla. Ullmark unproven in playoffs. The only east teams with equal goaltending are tb and rags/igor. Still troubling that isles have only scored more than two goals-three-once in last 12 games.

  4. the scoring was not much better now than it was before the Horvat trade. This team is not making the playoffs regardless. Too many teams in front if them for the wild card

  5. Thinking of Seattle, why on earth did Lou leave Eberle unprotected and not Bailey or clutterbuck?

  6. They aren’t good. Mayfield is washed. Bolduc looks better. Sell mayfield & Varly at the deadline. If they want to come back so badly they can in the summer.

  7. I have waited 2 years to see Barzal move to wing. He isn't a good center, and I doubt he will ever be. He's gotten worse at face offs, is weak on defense and his linemates have trouble following his moves. Now all he has to do is anticipate Horvats moves and get into position. That will take some time, buy I already saw signs of the type of plays these 2 can make. Three near misses stick out.

    1) Horvat in front of the net and passing between his legs to Barzal, who was clearly surprised and not in position to take advantage of the pass.
    2) Horvat driving the net and Barzal making a nifty behind the back pass to Bo, who was surprised he got the puck to him and flubbed the shot.
    3) Horvat carrying and Barzal flying the wall. The pass was there, but Barzal wasn't ready for it. He would have had a clear run to the net.

I think that once these 2 start to hook up, Barzal will shoot. If there is no shot, he will pass rather than trying to do too much to set up a linemate. That's the bad habit that has ended with many turn overs. I did see him start doing this as the game wore on and Barzal was trying too hard to create and opportunity. The trap to being creative is not knowing when to back off.

What could make this pairing special is both players truly love the game and are driven to be the best they can be. Both are skilled and creative, with
Horvat being more versatile and defensively responsible. I hope Lane insists on Barzal staying on the wing. Once Barzal makes the adjustments, he'll be good for 90+ points.

  8. I feel comfortable with either goalie in net, would love to keep the "duo"

  9. Thinking of top line it should barzal hovart walstrom when he gets back into the lineup
