Good Video as always
Bunch of Jerks!
I love this Hurricanes team this year, but their Power Play leaves something to be desired. They're sitting at 20% on the PP. Their last 7 games, they're 7/22 on the Power Play, so that's promising. Their 4 previous games before that, though, they were a combined 0/11. I hope they are onto something now with their recent success, but they can't afford those dead PP streaks in the playoffs.
Their penalty kill has been helping them drastically. That same stretch of their last 7 games they're 20/22 on the penalty kill, including allowing 0 goals on Boston's 6 power play opportunities. Oh also the Canes lead the NHL in SHG at 10.
As a lifelong Bruins fan, living in North Carolina for the last 20 years, the likelihood of a Bruins-Hurricanes ECF has me very excited. These two teams are very similar and they match-up very evenly. Of course, there’s a lot of variables that could get in the way of a B’s-Canes series this spring… but I hope it happens.
As of this comment I’ve watched all 32 of your all star break reports! Great job and hope you enjoyed your vacation and safe travels back home!
I would also pick Canes and even Oilers over the Broons.
Patches has been quite vocal about how happy he has been in Raleigh. If he is still living in Raleigh and rehabbing and Raleigh wouldn't be surprised if he took a lower deal to stay with the team.
But you never know
Canes need a 2C that can score and healthy, consistent goaltending.
For the several games I watched with Hurricanes I was most impressed with Brent Burns. His control over blue line, vision and versatility are amazing
We got this
Aho is their leading scorer with 23
Thank you THG I've been waiting really patiently for this one
I think Patches comes back on a team friendly deal. Word is he and his family love NC and would love to make it their home long term. Question is if Carolina would want him back with his injury issues. As said numerous times Shannon, need to make it to a Playoff game here in Carolina and would love to hear your review on how the south treats hockey.
I’m gonna put predictions here. BO HORVAT! LETS GO ISLANDERS!!!
Anyways…
Predictions: Lightning/ Islanders/ Rangers/ Devils/ Stars/ Wild
Wow, that UFA list is looonnnggg ! Cup this year or…nada ? Well then, lots of money moving out also and their contender status does wonders for getting new players (or re- signing current). Edit. Typos.
MVP imo is Aho, he has played 7 matches less than Necas and only one point behind.
I think if we can finally figure out the PP this team is absolutely a Cup favorite, but that's been the one thing that I think has really shown up in the playoffs in recent years is our inability to strike when given a man advantage opportunity. Gotta figure out special teams
Aho has 7 less games played than both Necas and Svechnikov. He has also been the Cane's best player in January.
FINALLY OUR REPORT. Thankyou Shannon for best for last. We understand the message your trying to send lol
Everybody talks about the canes like a small market team with no fans but our fans continue to be the most viewing and “like” fans on yt. Canes strong.
Honestly anytime someone says a carolina mvp and it isnt slavin i tune out just a little, but with the sheer amount of game tying and game winning plays necas has, its a fair argument to be had (this year)
Last two Gamedays: 3-2
Overall: 471-332
Today: Lightning,Islanders,Rangers,Devils,Stars,Wild
I would give mvp to Aho, Necas is doing great atm, but he's streaky. aho has been a bit more consistent throughout the season
If Canes don't want Andersen, pens will take him lol we're the retirement house
Be still my heart! THG says Hurricanes are the best team right now. 🥹
Canes want Timo
They’re bigger and stronger than Boston. As a B’s fan, I’d prefer to avoid them in the playoffs at all costs.
Carolina for years has been a scary team. Shame about Max re injuring his Achilles he’s a great player
I really like our odds to make a run for the cup. Will be interesting to see what DW does before the trade deadline. Go Canes!
I want that president trophy in Carolina! Lol
The truly remarkable thing about this team is they've done all this while losing significant amounts of man-games to key players. Pacioretty has been out basically the entire season. Aho missed 7 games. Teravainen missed 10. Slavin has now missed 7. Andersen has missed about half the season and both Raanta and Kochetkov have been sidelined at times, and other times forced to play with injuries because all three goalies were nicked up at the same time. Who loses a top-line forward and their top defenseman and responds by going on a 7 game win streak? This team is incredibly resilient.
Paper tiger comments are warranted because yes they haven't been able to put it all together for a deep playoff run since 2019. But this is the third straight year they've been in the top 2-3 teams in the league according to the standings, and because of Pacioretty's injury they now have TEN MILLION dollars of cap space at the trade deadline. They could get Patrick Kane or Timo Meier and OMG, they'd have to be the favorite at that point because the team's only weakness is they're missing a top 6 forward.
