  1. Hello Gil. Wow isles d is on fire. Two g a in four game winning streak. That is the isle recipe to win. Most complete win since pen win and oil blanking. That just shows how much pelech means to the d. BO knows goals. Bo/barzal could be something. Even bailey chipped in with another nice assist. Maybe bailey can morph back into that 71 pt. assist guy he was playing on p j judas/lee line that one weight season and needs two guys that can drive a line for him. Too bad pens got the ot win last night. It looks like Lou id'd and honed in on the right player to acquire and spend $8.5 mil. on. For that price you want a player that is versatile and can do a multitude of things. Bo checks all the boxes. How it plays out for rest of isles season is yet to be seen. Good show.

  2. Morning Gil and guys, there was nothing really painful to watch about the isles during this game. The D didn’t pinch as much, they actually took one-timer slap shots, the O put pucks on net and Barzy didn’t figure skate as much as usual, that’s the formula. Sorokin is the best goalie in the NHL, hands down. Hopefully Lane doesn’t tinker with the lineup that much, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Bolduc is a solid Dman and he’s very smart with his passes even though he did make a Barzy turnover just after he scored, it’ll cut him slack cuz he was excited getting his 1st NHL goal. The predictions from the talking heads are that Lou is going to make a blockbuster trade, I don’t see that happening and to be honest, we don’t need a blockbuster trade. I wouldn’t give up any of the kids, as for Mayfield, as much as I liked him in the past, this season not so much, he went from being a solid hitter years ago to thinking he’s a rt handed Potvin and doesn’t hit as much or as hard as he used to. I don’t see Pel or Pull going anywhere but if sending 1 is gonna bring us another scorer, I’ll take it. Overall grade for the Islanders last night is a B+, the D has to clear the front of the net.

  3. Keeping the upbeat podcasts going, like you said easy when they are winning. Be nice when I get to my first game in a couple of week that they should be in the playoff chase. ❤

  4. Pro sports is far more mental than physical as every pro sport is all the best of the best. Bringing in Bo gave this team the mental lift it needed to possibly allow them to rise to their full potential this season. Bo will take pressure off Barzal in a good way and create benefits for him and the team as a result. I do think the team as a whole needs to be more physical as well. Total checking and finishing checks solidly needs to be sustained or even increased. In the last few years physicality, great D, and at least 1 substantial winning streak has been the recipe for success. Add some real O threat and we can get there. I trust the team to step up hard if getting to playoffs, no reason to doubt that yet, but they have to get there. Pitt and Buffalo have many games in hand so we really need to keep winning becuase we are giong to have to sit and watch while they play those games complletely impotent to do anyhting other than creat a buffer against it. Winning creates cinfidence and good mental preparedness. It also can have some sustainablility against a here and there loss to keep team mostly on the right side of the win column. Keep it up GIl. Love to awatch daily.

  5. The most convincing game for us in a while really impressed all round! 2 games coming up that we could and should win if we are going to make this wildcard run. Let’s go islanders!

  6. They looked great. If they can get another legit winger for the Horvat line, and send Bailey to retirement, I think the roster is set. I like the rest of the lines, especially the fourth with Fasching.

  7. First thought goes to the Romanovs newborn. I hope all is fine at home.
What really excites me is how quickly Horvat reacted and got to the open ice in front of the net when Barzal stole the puck from the defender. That is exactly what Barzal has needed….a guy who thinks and reacts as quickly as he does. These 2 are going to be lethal. I'm not sold on Bailey being the 3rd, but he's doing fine so far. I can see Holmstrom taking that position soon enough.
I've been keeping an eye on Bolduc all year thanks to deckhands ( https://www.youtube.com/@Naitnoum ) channel. All he does is follow the progress of Islander prospects, even those playing in Europe or Russia. All Bolduc needs is to be more selective on shots and passes, but he is a physical presence, perhaps more than Romanov. Bolduc also has a great wrister that is highly effective from inside the circles.

I don't see the Isles doing anything with our defense. It's rock solid with 7 guys who can get it done. IF anyone is moved, my money is on Aho, who could have some real value with how well he passes and moves the puck.
I totally agree with your analysis on Varly. We don't really have a viable goalie prospect who is anywhere near ready.

  8. I have not seen the Islanders play more a full game all season then we did last night. Need to also mention Peleck finally looking 100% again makes their team so much better. I really think they make a run and hop in the playoffs in a wild cart spot.

  9. Hi Gil! 60 minute game for the most part. It’s obvious the impact Bo has had! The other lines have less pressure and playing against lesser checkers. Can’t trade this kid Bolduc—he’s a gem. Even Bailey looks a little rejuvenated but he still has to go! Pens are not the team to catch—it’s the Caps. They can be had this year—their injuries are again slowing them down. Like one of our guys here said——finally pajama boy has been replaced. Reminds me of when the Devils acquired Gilmore. 🤞🤞🤞

  10. No doubt the Horvat trade has energised the whole team and the belief in play off still is possible. Very good point with all the lines are creating chances, and it is a testament to that we maybe have found the right bits of the puzzles in line constructions, as well as the influence of the big trade. I also think it will do Barzal the world of good, having confidence that his work will more often result in goals, even Bailey has stepped up to the plate since the move. We look solid in defence, and more dangerous in offence, and hopefully we can get the PPGs coming with Horvat in the team. I think Horvat proved his skills as a goalscorer, because Barzal's wobbling puck was not easy to manage, even if it wasn't a clean shot. Also Horvat's moves to get in position and initiate the whole thing, showcase how valuable he will be outside faceoffs. However, I doubt LL will stir the pan with more trades, as Gil rightfully says, we don't have a lot of assets, and those that may be tradeable, may be better options keeping, like Varmalov.

  11. Too bad Wahlstrom is out for the year he would be great on a line with Horvat and Barzal. Bailey's time is up he has to go it happens. I don't want to see Pague traded

  12. Thanks for the response to the email! Appreciate the input! Really looking forward to what Lou does either at the deadline or the draft. And as always, keep up the awesome work!
