Why the hell would Carter be disciplined?

Wouldn’t that require the league to care about the safety of the players?

  2. weaponized-barracuda

Absolute bullshit. Those kind of hits can end careers.

I trust our team to take care of it on ice.

  4. Love to see mild fans on r/hockey acting like Carter did nothing wrong. It’s like we live in different universes. Apparently it shouldn’t have been a penalty because you can somehow collide into a stationary person without hitting them??

    The heck?

Imagine telling a police officer you didn’t hit a car, the two cars simply collided lmao. What a joke.

George Parros cares more about protecting the careers of worthless scrubs like him than protecting stars. He’d never have been considered for the position he has in any organization that has a clue.

He skated full-speed, from behind, *nowhere near the puck* (his direction of motion is literally a 90 degree angle to the direction of the puck, and he curves to his right as the puck moves left), through a stationary player whose only crime was turning to face the puck. He only turned to the puck *after* he had collided with Makar.

If that’s legal by the letter of the rule, and it seems to be, it needs to not be as soon as practicable. This will only continue happening if it’s not a penalty to play as a human missile as long as your target moves their head slightly, and this is the kind of thing that results in serious concussions or worse. « Carter played legally » is 100% the wrong takeaway here; the right takeaway is « a system that allows this collision to happen with zero accountability for a reckless player, off the puck, is broken and must be fixed immediately. »

The most outrageous thing about this is that if Carter had simply stopped where he hit Cale, clear-cut interference. But skating recklessly through his fucking head– all good!

EDIT: And to be clear, I don’t think Carter was headhunting. I just think he wanted to knock Cale off balance and did it in a super reckless way that ended up taking him out for two games, and it’s on the league to step up and fix this. It’s a hit that had no reason to occur at all and it ended up taking out one of the biggest stars in the game. I’m not allergic to big hits and I’m not trying to soften the game, but you have to protect players brains when they’re not in the play. No reason for this to be legal, unlike the hit on Kadri the other day, which was dangerous but *he was playing the fucking puck*.

Normally I don’t like condoning vigilante actions but I hope Big Mac is going to be getting some answers out of Carter’s face in March.

BuT cAlE wAs ClEaRlY TuRnInG iNtO HiM. So fucking crazy people are divided on this…Pens fans make me sick. Half of them only want him suspended because Carter is a liability and the other half think he’s not in the wrong. It’s utter bullshit

    It’s bullshit but it’s expected

I miss Landeskog so much. He wouldn’t have let that fly.

  11. flappypancaker

Fucking unreal…gotta knock his ass out in game

  12. XTailsX

I’ll say it again and again…if the league won’t solve it the players will…and it won’t be pretty!

  13. staefrostae

There has to be an initial punishment for there to be supplemental punishment… just sayin

Right before Christmas my youngest nephew declared he’s a Pens fan. Now he has to answer for Carter when I go over and give him the Razor’s Edge this weekend

  15. briggch

Nobody should be surprised that a head hit on an Avs player did not get the offending player a disciplinary hearing…this has been happening for 3 years now.

  16. baumer028

    This is fucking bull&@fuckucarter!

  17. baumer028

Maybe Justice is coming… oh wait he’s right over there.. waiting for March 22
