Not sure I’m allowed to post this but thought some people who don’t listen to the podcast might want to hear it.

The team and origination are in a terrible place. The Barn Burner guys break it down scathingly. Hurts to hear but also confirms what it’s been like to be a fan of this team for the past three decades.

It’s genuinely refreshing to hear the organization criticized like this.

We’re all Flames fans. We get excited over the smallest things, we want the team to find success – but good grief are they bad it (finding success). Decade after decade, it’s just so much of the same.

The organization needs to take a step back, look at Championship quality teams – study how they were built, and start down that path. This fanbase would absolutely support a rebuild. This organization needs to stop doing what it has been doing, and start giving this fanbase a team worth cheering for.

    Sutter. Has to. Go.

You can hate it all you want, you can throw stats all you want.

Calgary holds onto people well past their expiry date.

They are throwing down f bombs in here haha. Love it, thanks for sharing. Some hard truth being told here.

Way too much pressure on this team given the off season IMO.

I understand how people are upset. But I’m on the few willing to wait before freaking out

As an outsider it’s kinda hilarious the overreaction of Flame fans. You have a decent team and are only 5 points back of 3rd in the Pacific. Did you think you were elite going into the season?

I like barnburner but I don’t take their criticism too seriously. They’re blowhards. There’s no one out there more arrogant than Pinder. It makes for good radio, but these guys greatest idea a couple weeks ago was we just needed to put Pelletier in the top six and everything would work. Now it’s if only someone put an arm around Huberdeau and was nice to him everything would be good. There’s no solutions, just the smartest guys in the room with all the complaining and no real answers other than fire the Jack Adam’s winning coach. If firing Sutter does anything positive fine, but good franchises don’t fire their coach non-stop and Sutter has been – without a close second – the best coach in this franchise in 30+ years.

Yesterday sucked and made me want to find an electric scooter and roll around Detroit. And I’m not naive to what the flames are as I’ve wasted much of my life depending on them for my own happiness, but this isn’t a good franchise has underperformed for 30 years and this year is far from the worst. I actually like the prospect pipeline, I like the roster but they need another top 6 forward and the team desperately misses Kylington and last years goaltending. It’s just shit, but whatever, I’ll be emotionally invested again at 10:30am tomorrow. And I’ll still listen to Barn Burner but these guys are arrogant as fuck and have no more answers than the drunk guys calling into patty in the post game.

We were in a perfect position to sell tkachuk of a lot of prospects and picks and tank in a year expected to be one of the best drafts in the last 20 years. We coulda legitimately did a bedard run and had two very good reasons for it. Even the consolations for bedard look fantastic. Hindsight and all that, and I was one who was super excited for hubdereau, but man……ooof. What a brutal mistake that looks like it is.

Haven’t gave it a listen yet but I said it in the summer once Johnny left it was time for a rebuild. I understand the Tkachuk trade and Kadri signing gave a lot of people hope that we could still be contenders but let’s be real none of the players we brought in we’re gonna have the seasons they just had. Every single one had a a career year, and these contracts aren’t looking good now let alone in a few years time. It’s been the story of this organization for the last 30 years, never good enough to win but never willing to rebuild. Happy with 17th place I guess.

Flames fan. Also a Steelers fan. Steelers have had 3 coaches in 53 years or so. Let the other idiots, Canucks come to mind, fire their coach every other month and show me results. Works once every so often like with St. Louis but not the answer here. What’s Darryl need to do, play run and gun with this roster. Good luck with that. Really at the end of the day the players need to want it and too many don’t. Lindholm, Huberdeau, and Markstrom have been awful. All said they can still get in so not all hope is lost. Will cheer for them knowing I might get disappointed which is everyone that’s a fan. Be great if we could clone Backlund and Coleman but we are not technically there yet. GFG

We should have been rebuilding and instead we tried to go all in.

Huberdeau got his contract and has nothing to play for now. He doesn’t even give an effort most games.

Markstrom has had an off year.

Overall, the team is actually outperforming my expectations because of Sutter. This really is not a talented team goal scoring wise, but Sutter manages to make us look like a playoff team at times.

  12. Miserable-Lie4257

Too many one goal games for me to give up on them yet. If they were getting blown out on the regular I’d be more concerned but they’re not.

  13. TkachukNorris

    Buncha horseshit, ya’ll chill

  14. I thought at the beginning of the season that we were a playoff team; it turns out we are a bubble wildcard team. It has been hard to reset my initial expectations and that has resulted in a frustrating year.

At this point, outside of a major shakeup, I don’t see the team doing much better or worse, but just slugging it out to the end where they might be a wildcard team or not.
