» #NYR
Tarasenko on what led to the trade: "There was no chance of staying in St. Louis. No deal was offered, so I knew I was going to move somewhere. I talked with Artemi and they wanted me here… One of my best friends plays here and we have a chance to win a Cup again." #NYR

Is he implying that the right offer could have changed his mind? Why would he be expecting an offer at all if he’s been asking for a trade for two seasons?
EDIT: After reading some other interpretations of this quote it seems like was simply stating that he was never offered anything, so there was nothing to even consider when the proposal came to him. I don’t think he was saying he would consider one. Hard to interpret that quote through text.
Armstrong not even tryin to keep a goal scorer… dp57 repeat…big rig too
I’m confused why he would have expected an offer from the Blues. He requested a trade, not the team’s fault
Gaslight much?

It will be interesting to see what he gets in FA. Both in term and AAV. I suspect it won’t be what he hopes.
Vova not taking the high road here, He’s been vocally interested in leaving for 2 years, maybe more, he never liked that Ryan O’Reilly made captain. For him to imply that our lack of an offer was the reason he left is disingenuous
It’s the obvious « try to save face with the fanbase » quote. « They didn’t make an offer, so I wasn’t going to stay ». Except he forgot to mention that he wanted out and no matter the offer he’d have received, he wouldn’t have taken it.
Sweet. Sounds like it was for the best for St. louis.
Kerber said on the radio yesterday wouldn’t be shocked if the team chemistry is better after the move.
I’ve always wonder what it would have been like if the Blues had brought in Panarin back in the day like Tarasenko had suggested to them.
Hopefully someday we’ll welcome him back with his jersey in the rafters.
While what he said is true, the way he said it certainly can be interpreted as an implication that he knew he was being traded b/c the Blues didn’t offer him a deal, not because he’d been asking for a trade for years and certainly would not have signed with the Blues regardless.
Teams twist words all the time too, so I guess it’s fair.
He’s in the KHL in 3 years. He got all the slack in the world from our homer Midwest market for his streaky play. A major market will have his lazy 2 way game for lunch when he goes on his first patented 20 game cold snap no and it’s longer forgiven because “home grown hero”
Yeah of course no deal was offered, Valdi said he wanted to leave so Army found a path to make it happen. Don’t make it sound like STL didn’t try, Vladi. Don’t play that.
I’m so ready for the Rangers to sign him for too much money and term and for them to lose in the 1st round to the Sabres the next 3 years.
He can go back to Russia for all I care.
