Man look at the zone exits too. Now I see why Dano gripes about that every game!

It seems like it’s been that way for the last 3 or so seasons

I would agree with this just from watching games.

The rebounds/deflections don’t surprise me at all, our net-front presence is definitely under league average. You can tell just by watching.
The below average Point Shots per 60 is pretty surprising though, mainly because we have arguably the best player in the world at getting pucks on net from the point. Graves, Sieg and Sevo also shoot quite a bit, but they’re obviously not as good as getting it to the net as Dougie.
I do wonder how this is tracked though, perhaps because of Ruff’s system with defencemen pinching in and join the rush a lot, that they’re just too low in the zone when shooting for it to be considered a « point shot ».

That failed exit hits hard for me, too many easy outs they just muff

The point shots makes sense. On their own they are the lowest probability shots. To make them a higher probability you need bodies in front of the net for screens, deflections, and rebounds. I’m not sure NJ is built for that type of game/it would be an inefficient use of their skilled players. I suspect their defense is coached not to take point shots (I know the Maple Leafs coach their defenseman to get the pucks into the hands of their shoots and not to take point shots).

If you watch any game this season its obvious. I fucking talk about it all the time with my nephew. I call them the Globetrotters when they start with their passing bullshit instead of shooting from the top of the slot, trying for deflections or rebounds. It get frustrating watching the players try to make the fancy shitmwork all of the time.
