HI Gil. Its like beating a dead horse to think this team can suddenly change its colours. Lou made the bed. Lane has to sleep in it. It is what it is. Isles have already shown playing more offensive by activating the d may get them a few more goals but it is leading to too many mistakes by the D. You can't expect pelech, pulock, mayfield, romanov to suddenly become offensive dynamos on back end. Dobson does it the best yet he is prone to mistakes too. And could they just go back to playing trotz's stifling system? It probably wont work because trotz expected accountability doing it. Lane can't get team playing 'accountable' or hard for 60 minutes. The goaltending alone has won isles 5-6 games. Lane not having Isles ready with too many half assed efforts has cost isles just as many games. Next move should be for a more offensive boost on the back-end and chychrun for one aint coming for cheap. All lou can do is just ride it out and see how things play out before tdl and see what varly, mayfield can get in trade package. Unless lou goes bat shit crazy for chychrun in a hail mary attempt to save the season it is on lane to somehow wrangle 20 wins or 35 pts. out of the rest of season. Lane is in over his head. Very doubtful that will happen. That's why assistant coaches that take over the same team of a successful departed coach struggle when given full time job. Wings found out lewis was no scotty. Lou finding out lane is no trotz.

Lou should see if he can get a good offer for Romanov, take a decent deal on Bailey and Mayfield and let the season play out. The next GM can try and sign another star if available in the off-season.
