HI Gil. 'YOU WILL NOT SCORE IN OT/SHOOT-OUTS AND LIKE IT'. The problem is lane never had the locker room. Players knew they could coast once barry left. This roster isn't talented enough to coast or half ass it and still win on most nights. They can only win one way. Lane can't get a grip on that one. And fla and caps lost as isles throw 48 shots at a rookie goalie just to lose in shoot out. And pens are winning late so more ground lost with a chance to gain ground. And march 3rd tdl is just 16 days away. What are you gonna do lou? Word is vgk are looking for a goalie. Quacks looking to move Klingberg. Vrana could be had for cheap. You going to go for it lou? Or just move mayfield and varly and punt the season away? I think a sorry two pts. vs. van, habs, and sens says it all. Now pens twice with b's in between. Isles seem to play well against pens with their shitty d and goaltending. Isles need four pts. in pens games with no bettman loser points. And sked is brutal for rest of month. And ovi is out of caps line-up indefinitely. Caps or pens are who isles have to pass. The rest of east teams are 10 + points away and out of reach. Plus fla. is right in this playoff race. Put the sand bags on them lane. Maybe that will work. Nothing else can be done. Good show again.

I think this could be the case because of the trade with horvat.. he got a ton of backlash about the trade so he had to sign him for an expensive contract just to keep him. Personally feel like when we makes mistakes, he over reacts, or in this case under reacting, and not firing lane.

Gil, great analysis as always. We lost to a Cleveland Monster goalie, LOL…idk, just funny to hear…the Cleveland Monsters! LMAO. This team came undone at the threads very quickly. Never noticed a team come apart this fast. I think there’s some pieces you have to keep but get rid of everything else, including the furniture.

I dont think Lane ever HAD the team. Barry commanded respect. I think one day down the line, for some other group of players(another team), he will command that type of respect. In this point in time, with this team that has seen him as an assistant these past few seasons, he won't get that respect and that's what you're seeing game after game this season. You need another Trotz type to grab this groups attention. Sad, but true.

Ok got my 4 hrs it’s soapbox time. It’s evident that what I said a month ago is true, the majority of players are going thru the motions for a paycheck. Everyone says Ledecky is a great guy, that’s all well and good, I don’t know how long he’s been watching hockey but he needs someone outside the organization to tell him the truth about Lou, Lame and certain players. Hate to say it but from the start of the season I didn’t care for a few things the organization did off the ice, you can tell it’s being run more business like than like a hockey team first. They got rid of the woman who sang the National Anthem for a guy that sounds like someone scratching a chalk board, the team is more into “social and community” awareness then actually playing a structured responsible game. Players were moving into new homes during the season, do you think maybe those players were too tired to play ? Let’s get to Lame now, how many times did you see him show any emotion prior to him being named HC ? Never is the answer and it’s carried thru. Correct me if I’m wrong, didn’t ownership raise the price of tickets after a losing season ? People ran rt out there to pay for what was mediocrity and now it’s not even that. Obviously you can’t blame a player for getting hurt but with age comes a greater chance for injury and that’s where Lou failed by signing over the hill 3rd & 4th liners to contracts more than 2 years. The team doesn’t have to be taken apart fully, all it’s gonna take is a coach like Torts or Sutter, some trades, waives or demotions to Bport and keeping the kids up in the major league. If Lou doesn’t want to fire Lame immediately, he should strip Lee of the “C”, trade Bailey and that stupid song. I still think the Horvat trade is a win, give the man the “C” next season, let him get settled here. 27:19
As I have commented previously I didn't (and won't) watch the games unitl they show they deserve it. However, I did review the highlights. What I want to know is how they can play a game like they did against Seattle and then play games like the last two. Even if the players don't like the coach do they have no personal pride? Will they tank to ensure the coaches demise rather than win for themselves despite the coach. I just can't fathom it. If they don't like Lamberts scheme they can always just do what they want when on the ice. They PLAY the game. What is Lane going to do healthy scratch the entire team in retribution? We fans deserve so much better than this. As I have said before as a Mets and Jets fan I am beaten to do death this season. The Isles, as my favorite overall team, are hurting me the most. I will take a gutty loss but not seeming indifference. I noticed my team account rep has stopped calling trying to sell me seaosn tickets for next year!

Think you hit on it. This team isn't good enough. And at this point if Lou doesn't realize it and move out some dead weight he shouldn't be given an option to decide on retirement it should be mandatory.
I think the regular season is just too long to play hard every night. Some nights you have to get by with just skill which is why elite offensive players are so important.

PP looks so much better. Barzy squeezing his stick. Goalies not as good. 48 shots. Friday must win. Also D carrying tpo much on offense. Forwards and wingers not good enough. Will say Ottawa won 6 of 7 bad time to play them. Next 7 if out of it clean house. Also agree Horvat not dynamic except for OT first rush. Also Palmieri didn’t have it last night and they needed it. Keep switching lines. Didn’t help. I love Martin but he is not an NHL forward. He is a fourth liner on that crash line.
I’m still confused as to why Trotz was fired when he got so much more from this roster. Lambert is in over his head. Kind of looks like when Trotz was fired from the Caps and Reirden pooped the bed. Same thing here. GMs don’t get it sometimes. It’s more than just a system it’s knowing the roster as well and how to manage on and off the ice issues. This team looks like Capuanos team- totally lost and outplayed

Hi Gil—well another back up and rookie they make into Tony Esposito! 46 shots—-so freakin what! Most of them hit him anyway! No true sharpshooters and that’s why they could have 100 shots and still get shutout! Sorry—I’ve been patient but more than half this team has flights and hotels booked for summer vacations! Lee Looks shot! Palmeri is running around like a chicken without a head. Bailey—Beer league player. Mayfield-slow and shot. Dobson—-give away machine and does not hit. Romanov—-college player. Aho-college player—Casey—just a plugger. Bo-wondering why he signed. Barzie-same. Sorokin—wondering how he can score. Varly-definitely reconsidering his no trade list—-every other above 30 player in the NHL? How can I become an Islander and get a 5 year contract. Bottom line? Lou failed. Owners—they are failing us. Conclusion? I don’t mind a hard working, hard hitting team that’s average in talent or less—-I do mind not having even that much. Take care Gil!
