    Terrible trade for Van. We got a terrible winger to add to our collection of mediocre wingers, a B tier prospect to add to our other 2 European B prospects and an unprotected pick for a potential 50 goal scorer and face-off beast. Only thing that could have saved the trade is if the pick wasn't protected

    Lou is senile. This was a terrible give away. Raty has major potential and isles have no prospects so giving up a first in a deep draft year is just dumb. Especially for a 27 year old in a contract year

    Both teams lose this trade. Terrible return, and Isles aren't gonna make the playoffs. And they are hoping they either make the playoffs (like I said, won't happen) or get in the top 12 and keep the pick. And they might not be able to resign him. That's my take

    A third line overpaid winger (bad contract), a potential third line center, and a first round pick for Horvat. Wow Lou fleeced the Canucks bad. The good news is the Nucks should drop like a brick in the standings and have a good shot at a draft pick this year. Congrats Islander fans, you are going to love Horvat for years to come. The Canucks tire fire just got a lot bigger. The bad news for us Canuck fans is we don't even have the 4.1 to pay the winger for next year so he or someone else is going to have to go. Funny shit. Least they can keep Raty in the minors for another couple of years. Bomb for Bedard in full swing.

    Good trade for the Canucks. Consider what kind of 1st they would be getting if they dealt Horvat to Boston or Colorado. You're looking at 25-32. This Islander pick may very well be #13-16. There is also a scenario where the Islanders miss the playoffs, meaning that Van gets an unprotected 1st in 24. Islanders aren't that good and could easily finish bottom ten in 24. Beauvillier is just in there for salary cap purposes. Raty is a solid C prospect. Don't see what's not to like here.
