Never thought I’d say this, BUT for the betterment of the future of this franchise, we need to miss the playoffs.

For at least 2 months now I’ve been saying that if you told me we were guaranteed to fire Hynes if we missed the playoffs I’d say I’m fine missing the playoffs.

Poile got a good glimpse of what this team looks like against a playoff team yesterday and it wasn’t pretty.
My worry is we scrape into the playoffs but get immediately dumped out and that’s determined to be enough to keep the status quo. I’d much rather miss the playoffs and have some hope for a solid rebuild.
But if we make the playoffs and get swept in the first round…
This makes the most sense and firing Hynes mid season would make no sense. This team isn’t a coaching change away from being competitive. Let Hynes keep implementing his system this year and rack up the losses. Zero need for new energy to be injected into this team.
