I love this "its just draft picks" argument. Leaf fans, my self included, consider it "just draft picks" until they use one to draft the second coming of Stamkos then revisionist history takes over and its no longer…just draft picks lol. Whatever helps you sleep at night i guess.
Noel Acciari is the sweet spot of this deal. He brings us some nasty when needed, some pitch-in goals here and there, a grinder attitude like Hyman did for us, he eats up minutes and will go to the wall for his team, Boston fans love him and so will we. Who knows if this will equate into playoff success since any team can win and any team can lose. I just like where we are at with this deal. Hopefully Dooby is not done yet because you can bet Bos, Tamp will try to make counter moves.
Makes sense that Orielly wanted to come to the Leafs since hes from Ontario. Now we just need to protect him so he doesnt do a Muzzin on us where hes a great get but then gets hurt in the first rd and we lose in 7.

Considering the Leafs regular season standing, their trades in 2023 and 2024 will be way down the list. Combining that with the fact they kept all of their top 10 prospects is a huge win for Dubas and to consider they aren't finished is AWESOME. I am hoping Dubas looks at acquiring Gavrikov from the Blue Jackets for the backend.
He was exactly what we needed in 18-19, and although the Leafs aren't as physical overall, there's nothing but upswing he'll bring to Toronto. He can play anywhere, against anyone.

O'Reilly will do well, but Cookie is exactly what the Leafs needed. Hard nosed/high energy and will play that way whistle to whistle. Great on the PK too. We miss him in Florida. The Leafs have instantly increased their chances to go deep while also eliminating Boston.

As a long time Rangers fan I remember the 1940 chants so I do feel a bit for the Leafs which brought me to Steve Dangle long ago. It's something else to watch a fanbase struggle through a massive drought. I'm sure if Leafs fans are as snakebit as it seems they go back to 1-8 after the Lightning and Bruins finally fall off and they'd want the divisional opponents. Would Rangers vs Leafs ECF but I've seen Boston in person this year and they will be tough for any team to beat in seven. Good luck snapping that first round losing streak.

I love this deal. You win a Cup with strength up the middle and goaltending. We're now clearly the best team in the NHL @ the centre position. Dubas needs to shore up the 2nd or 3rd pairing defence and let's go get the Cup!

Right or wrong Dubas won't be around to miss that pick if they lose in the first round. His drafting since he joined means they shouldn't need high picks for a few years. Most of Tampa's best picks are outside of the first round. That's how you win cups.
