I’m finding that the older I get and longer I watch sports the less I get caught up by the details of how teams are run. A lot of people overreacting HARD to the news of Siegs being scratched with no context. Maybe he got a night off with Winnipeg coming up tomorrow, maybe Ruff thinks Siegenthaler has another gear he can reach and needed a wake up call for it. I don’t know until Ruff gets asked about it but he and the staff know this team and got a really good effort out of them against a desperate Penguins team in Pittsburgh.
Enjoy the wins, embrace the learning that’s still happening with these players, and remember that it’s mid-February and we’re actively concerned with buying at the trade deadline as well as watching the Devils’ playoff positioning.
Also Mercer is rapidly becoming my favorite Devil. I love everything about his game. Reminds me of a young Parise back in the day. No fear and can do anything you need him to do.

Nico is my favourite devil, and I always have high expectations of him. Love to see a game like this. Team is at its best when he’s on top of his game.
I hope Miles Wood got benched because he got traded and not because he’s just horrible.

This Hughes fellow has been quite the acquisition, a nice two point debut.
I hope this convinced Timo we are serious future powerhouse
* A game we really can build from/build on and propel us forward as we’re about to face a tough Winnipeg team.
* Lindy, you better not fuck these top three lines tomorrow. Let them stay together for at least a week.
* Hope to see Siegs and Naters back and hope to not see Wood.
* Hope this is just the beginning of an upward trajectory for Mercer, Shango, and Nico.
* I guess MackBlack is starting tomorrow. We have to play really really smart in front of him. We play so much more confidently in front of Vitek, so I hope we bring some of that for Mack, because tomorrow will be something.
* John Marino is fucking magic man. I just want to take a minute to really shout out how as soon as his game got back our defense became way less of a liability. I also want to shout out that he has really lifted Gravy up with him. Gravy last year wasn’t anything to write home about, but playing alongside Marino makes him exponentially better.
* Hope the Flames can upset the streaking Rags and even if they can’t, I’m fine with the Rags being hot now, because hopefully they’ll cool down soon enough and the closer to the playoffs that happens the better.
Nico was a beast today. Probably my favorite player on this team, so I love seeing him go full on fuck you mode.
I may have missed it because I spent the second period eating dinner but didn’t look like jack is really confident in his shot yet. Hopefully he’s actually OK and not trying to be tough like Nico.

Couldn’t watch this one boys, how did Mercer do on the top line? I know we’re all itching for timo but I’d still like to think Mercer is a top 6 regular next season.
How. Fucking. Good? Does it feel to just unabashedly support everything the team did tonight. Yeah the first period was a little rough, but we knew Pittsburgh was going to cling desperately to relevancy after their loss to NYI last night. We weathered that, Vanecek was super solid but really almost everyone for two full periods was paying very close « attention to detail » as Lindy would say. Go Nico, weathering so many bumps and bruises to score four points (nice to see Shar clicking well with him too). You could literally see Pittsburgh’s careers flashing before their eyes in the third. Sick.
Ps love seeing Bahl assert himself more out there. He’s far from perfect as yet, certain battles I’d rather he not get sucked into, but he’s getting comfortable and still able to get things done, which, at his size, bodes really well.
