If you actually look closely, the puck inexplicably took a hop right over his stick blade. I honestly think this is just one of the unluckist things that has happened to a player.

While I love this play, that shouldn’t be a question someone asks. You can see very clearly how he misses it. He pushes the puck in a direction that isn’t towards the net, it hits a freak chip in the ice and flips up just as he goes to swipe it into the net. This missed swipe takes him just long enough to recover that he can’t shoot it back into the net without bringing it back above the goal line and in that panic he loses his balance and falls and Edmonton recovers.
