@Maple Leafs de Toronto

  1. Great trade. It improves Toronto's depth and gives Sheldon Keefe plenty of options with the forward group. I still think Timo Meier would have been the ideal fit, but I don't think it ever made sense for the Leafs to blow up their prospect pool for a Meier rental.

  2. With the 3rd rounder being a pick that was GIFTED to us by Ottawa for Murray, the Leafs got Murray O'Reilly Pillar and Acciari for 2 low level prospects and a 1st, 2nd, and 4th. Thats with retention on BOTH O'Reilly and Murray. Absolute masterclass by Dubas here, perfection of asset management. Worth noting that I think O'Reilly and possibly Acciari have a high likelihood for an extension in Toronto, perhaps more-so for ROR (think Simmonds/Spezza/Gio)

  3. I think Ryan O'Reilly is a great player. But he is not going to make TML a Stanley up winner. If you want to look back at what teams have won Cups, they are teams with the best Defence, with a great goal tender. When the TML Def don't play an excellent game they can't beat anyone. O'Reilly is making 7.5M in the last year of his deal, He won't be here next season. So the stuff they gave, no matter the value, is gone. Should have got Jakob Chychrun affordable to 24/25

  4. O'Reilly BTW got his fat contract for his MVP award in the Blues Stanley Cup run. For me that was Binnington's trophy, just like it was Ken Dryden's trophy the year he was called up and the Habs won. Up until Binnington the Blues were going no where. Just another example of NHL BS.

  5. Matthew Knies, had no goals in the 2022 WJC, he was the 57th pick round two, What is the big whup, there will be plenty of good picks for the TML, after 2025/26 when they are sitting 20th to 26th in the league.

  6. Leafs are closely match to Tampa and even Boston???? Not in the playoffs bro. Not even close.

  7. I think the O'Reilly Honeymoon phase is gonna quickly fade. This move is not enough to topple Tampa and ESPECIALLY Boston. There are deeper defensive and goaltending issues that this trade didnt adress.

  8. They are two good new forwards. But the Leafs weakness is trying to win playoff series against teams like Tampa & Bruins without two Leaf Top Pairing – D men. In the past decades – Leafs just continued to lose playoff series when playing without Top Pairing NHL D – men.

  9. Loved the trade. Difference maker for sure, plus Dubbs isn't done working it yet. Something else is coming. Most of the complaints are coming from naysayers that were always going to complain.

  10. In my opinion the trade is a good move the two players bring experience and grit now they need another gritty player for the bottom 6 and a physical Dman that's my opinion

  11. I think it was what we needed and think the picks were well spent. I do trust Dubas and the leafs scouting team to beat the odds that you guys quoted (for a pick becoming an NHL player), but the other side of it is; any player the leafs would pick would also be 5 years out from helping the team-if they beat all other odds.

    Another aspect of this move is culture shift. ROR and Acciari are the killer instinct guys that this team needed. I still don't think it's enough for a cup, but I like the direction Dubas went. Now if only there was some magic we could use to add Perron and Hornquist and any other, all in, die on the ice for the cup, type "playoff performer" players.

  12. It was a good trade but doesn't change the team being structured wrong while hoping for above average goaltending to make up for it.
