The cap crunch on teams is being felt right now. So many teams are near the cap that they need a 3rd team to facilitate trades which means giving up more assets. Not that this has anything to do with Hoff, but I think it’s going to be a quieter TDL this year.

Yeah I mean not a guy I’d want with the names out there but maybe a desesperate team who hope to adds scoring depth and can’t add big names like Meier, Barbashev, Bertuzzi etc. will panic last minute and give a mid round pick for him

  3. We’ll have a chance next TDL, like with Eddy and maybe Monahan. We’re stuck with Armia and Dvo until their last year. It’s gonna take a while to unload all our bad contracts. Unless the cap goes up by 5-6 millions next year.

Hoffman has played better (low bar)…maybe contract year and some health on the team could see a boost next year?

  5. Only reason a team would want him is as a PP shooting specialist… and he has 1 PP goal all year.

If you were a GM in a playoff spot, why would would you trade anything for a 33 year old, 4mil cap hit, one-dimensional forward, who historically hasn’t performed well in the playoffs?

We’ve had him for two years, he has not been good in either.

Buyout is the only move left, and it’s better than taking up a roster spot next year in hopes he becomes worth a mid-round pick. I’d rather give that ice time and locker room space to one of the kids.

I don’t see us making any significant deals at the deadline in general unfortunately. Teams aren’t interested in Hoffman, Dadonov, Armia or Drouin, Edmundson and Monahan are still injured and we are apparently set on keeping Anderson. So who’s left we could actually deal at the deadline?

With most of our developing players injured, and the team playing themselves out of a top 5 pick as well, it’s shaping up to be a disappointing rebuild year.

I’m sure every GM in the league let’s Darren know when the recieve a phone call

  10. Mustafarr

Yeah, wait until next year. He’ll be on an expiring contract and it’ll be a lot easier to ship him somewhere as a rental

I guess the hope was a team looking for some secondary scoring on their powerplay would be interested, but the extra year at $4.5 scares them off.

Dadonov and Drouin likely don’t fetch anything interesting, if at all, and it doesn’t look like they want to move Anderson (I think they should).

Dvorak might be interesting but there looks to be no smoke there.

  12. there’s not much interest here either tbf

    another nothing burger from Dreger.

    must be slow for him.

so-called insider who never has anything to say that someone else has already said.

  14. Peckerhead321

Dreger doesn’t know shit…. That’s said I believe he’s guessed right on this one

  15. duchovny

Yeah this is going to be a boring deadline for us. We’re a bottom dweller with nothing to sell.

  16. dphizler

    No shit Sherlock

Most of our players are weak bottom 6 on other teams
