r/BlueJackets will win a Stanley Cup before Toronto’s next cup if the leafs don’t do it this year.

Canadian media hurts Canadian teams and turns off talent wanting to play at home

Roller hockey in the 90s was the NHL’s path to being mainstream in US Sports culture and Gary missed the plot

Friends, remember to sort by controversial to see the actually unpopular opinions

The league uses « tradition » as an excuse to operate in a manner decades behind the times, and as a result severely limits the overall growth and popularity of the sport.

My team isn’t that bad.

The main reason the sport isn’t growing as fast in popularity is because it’s way too expensive for most kids to play. I think people put too much emphasis on salary cap, tv rights, etc. Too be fair some of these issues are definitely substantial and probably easier to fix, but I don’t solving them will help as much as people think.

Competitive hockey is a class sport, like Tennis or Golf.

One year the leafs are going to win it all.

I don’t hate the Maple Leafs.

The NHL will make sure Bedard goes to Anaheim so their Disney on Ice with Zegras gets amplified.

Weird that a Canadian team hasn’t won a cup since 93′.

Predator is not a good team name.

Both teams should wear their color jersey unless there is an issue with matching colors soccer style.

I don’t like when post game interviews are done in the locker room, with everyone changing in the background. Give the players 10 minutes to at least be decent, then you can ask your questions.
Bine_YJY_UX
The current run and gun era with all the rule changes and extra games is the reason why so many players are breaking records.

Im 58. My unpopular opinion is that the Jets will win Cup in my lifetime. And im perfectly healthy
Masshole0407
College Hockey conferences do a better job in awarding points then NHL.
Doesn’t give the incentive to play for overtime that the NHL does.
No_Good2934
Idk if this is even unpopular but people seem to discredit teams that are good mostly due to one or 2 players because « they wouldn’t be near as good without X » and i just think its a terrible meaningless argument. Right now its heavily used against the oilers, who I’m not even a fan of.
WendyBNoy
We should all stop watching the games unless and until the NHL starts providing us ways to watch the games without taking out a 2nd mortgage.

It sucks that a Canadian team hasn’t won a Stanley Cup since 93. And I’m saying this as an American

Kids who want to be pro hockey players shouldnt play hockey year round. Play other sports in the summer. Play a musical instrument. Hunt/fish. Ride dirt bikes etc…you can gain strengths and perspectives others dont.
welldonecattle
It’s better to have two above average 5mil cap hit players than to have one 10 million dollar super star. Watching the extraordinary talent is fun, but it hurts the team overall.

Zambonis should be street legal.

The NHL will one day put a second team in Texas – but not in Houston.
They’re gonna choose the booming market and massive tech money in Austin.

Rocket boosters attached to the skates, I wanna see breakaways that are life threatening.

It’s smart to keep the Coyotes in Arizona because it gives the southwestern US a team to root for

The window has closed for the Penguins. They’ll blow it up when the core retires and they’ll be waiting for the next Sid, Geno and Letang

Every game is worth 3 points no matter what.
Regulation win: 3
OT/Shootout win: 2
OT/shootout loss: 1
Regulation loss: 0
