I disagree about the Hextall pics. I think it’s a big reason why the flyers are where they are right now. He blew multiple high end picks which are they guys you are exactly talking about. Difference makers.
Rubtsov, JOB etc. these are first round pics that are complete shit. Had they been good pics maybe this team wouldn’t be so bad right now…maybe not contender status but better…
So yes. Hextall made a mess. Picked poorly and what’s on the ice right now is that product. The prospects after his regime are filtering in and yes…. None look like top end game breakers. So I’m not absolving current regime either and agree if picking high go for broke and get a game changer.
I guess what I’m saying is. Hextall sucked at the draft. Set this team back by missing on a lot of high pics. Fletcher hasn’t done much to improve but still has time to show if he sucked as bad.
Either way. Let’s get some good hockey people in and start get this right
And yes. I do agree that Gauthier may be a good prospect but I would have gone Jirichek easily. They missed on that I think. But time will tell.
