Either somewhere else for a lesser return or walking in the summer for nothing.
It really looks like we fumbled at the 1.

Toronto needs a defensive defenseman. And there are plenty of other teams that need a defenseman as well (Edmonton, and Ottawa come to mind).

Gavrikov + Korpisalo to LA or whoever really regrets not spending for Chychrun + Vejmelka

Honestly, just my armchair speculation… but STL has been reported to wanting to retool their blue line, Gavy is big, dependable and tough which fits the Blues MO. they have a ton of assets, and if he’s willing to sign, maybe is a good fit??

Boston got a lot in this deal. Heard Edmonton a lot in rumors but plenty of options

Wouldn’t it be interesting if Jarmo didn’t really want to trade Gav, but is just proving to him that he isn’t worth what he thinks he is. Then Gav signs with us. I know this isn’t the case, but I think it would be interesting.

I’d say it’s 50/50 that someone panics after their team has a bad game or two and swoops in for him. The question is what they will offer. At this point, just take whatever. We can’t pay him what he wants, and we aren’t exactly chasing anything this year, so it’s no real issue to have him leave for even a 2nd round pick, over him walking in the summer.
