Certainly disappointing but at this point almost expected. Gonna be a murderers row in the playoffs on our side of the bracket.

I think that’s seemed obvious the last couple of days so this is just confirmation. If they turned down 2 firsts + a good prospect from the Blues, they were always going to be too much for us.

The question now is who do we go for because it feels all the primary options are gone. I’m a bit miffed we fanned on all of them and they all went to our rivals. I guess we’ll be seeing a player like Schmaltz soon.

Whatever. Get us Schmaltz AND Gostisbehere

  4. HabitApprehensive889

these guys often don’t tweet spefics like this….so that sucks…but I am still holding out hope

Okay, we will move on to Arizona. Silver lining is that one of the devils and Rangers will be out in the 1st round.

  6. LockOn1225

Expecting a Jani Hakanpää type consolation player that gives us another 2nd round exit because “we like our team”

    Hopefully GMDW proves me wrong

Is there anyone else out there that fits what we need? Like the idea of schmaltz but we desperately need a gamebreaker

  8. Being told you’re out is a bluff check on whether your final offer is really final. Probably still trying to get Jarvis. If so, we should stay where we are. There are other options.

If the trade doesn’t make sense it doesn’t make sense.

I like what GMDW is doing with this. Imagine we pay 3-4 first rounds worth of assets and lose in the first or second round.

Also, we still have trades we can find and make to help the team.

Waddell and DUMBdon are both cheap bastards. Waddell is esp known for being cheap. I’d we flame out again in the playoffs I want his ass fired.

I think the price is too high. I mean you look at what Fiala or DeBrincat went for last offseason and while the Fiala situation is a little different, I don’t think Meier is worth a first and two very good prospects of whatever the price is. I understand San Jose maximizing their return, and if some team is willing to do it, good for them. But I think the price is just a bit too rich.

Given the reported prices of the trade, I’m okay with this. JR made many shitty trades for short-term gain at the extreme expense of our long-term prospect pool that helped put us into a situation of a decade of missing the playoffs. We don’t want that again. Obviously we’re in win-now mode and our window won’t stay open forever, but there’s a balance to be had.

Nick Schmaltz you are a Carolina Hurricane!

Canucks fans out there think this means they can pawn JT Miller off on us. They’re even delusional enough to think we’ll give them KK, Morrow, and a 1st for the privilege.

Best news I’ve seen all day.
Let the Devils pay through the nose, both to get the guy and again to sign him. Couldn’t happen to a better bunch of people.

I bet there was a max DW would give up without getting term and it ended up going higher.
