Who’re the other gents we snagged?
SJ is gettting (1) two guys that can play in the NHL while they rebuild (Zett, Okhotiuk), (2) the two first round picks, (3)a decent upside lottery ticket in Muk.
If they can deal Karlsson too, they will have a ton of 1st/early round picks. This is the right way to do a rebuild. Stack up as many 1st round slots as possible. They will get early 1st round picks from being bad this year and next, plus the later 1st rounds picks from trading their two best players.
Johnsson and Harrington are pure cap moves. Neither player is an important piece this year or next for the respective teams. Just a way to make the cap work on the Devils side.
Devils get: (1) the piece they most need now,(2) a significant improvement to the team this year, and (3) to keep ALL of their best/high priority prospects.
An absolutely great trade for the Devils as far as I’m concerned. Incredible work by Fitz.
