  1. Timo Meier is OFFICIALLY a Devil, But WHO Wins this Trade? Devils OR Sharks? I'd LOVE to Hear YOUR Thoughts Y'all!

  2. I think…long term. We did. (Devil's.) It's hard to say. But I'm surprised by some of the things the sharks accepted.

  3. As a sharks fan this trade is tough to evaluate. I think the sharks messed up with going with quantity over quality. Would much rather take a guy like Holtz instead of an additional first and some other prospects who might pan out as more middle six guys. Only time will tell on this one but I feel like we kinda got robbed.

  4. One of those trades that you won't really know who "won" it till years down the line.
Devils got what they wanted, and so did San Jose.
So both teams won this trade.

  5. No timo should come to the Calgary flames what is the nhl doing they just made the dumbest move ever in the 26 years in the nhl

  6. The Sharks cant lose this trade because they would not win the cup had Timo stayed and was paid 8.5 mill a year or whatever.

If any of what the sharks gets back leads to a cup long term it will be worth it obviously.

    Good luck devils and Timo.

  7. The Devils retained Luke Hughes, Simon Nemec, Alexander Holtz, Seamus Casey, Kevin Bahl, Graeme Clarke, Arseni Gritsyuk, and still get Timo 😳. New Jersey can afford the draft picks. The prospect pool is fully stocked with talent for the next couple of years.

  8. If SJ gets two 1st rounders, I'd say they win. Depends how much you value draft picks.
NJD is a good young team already, so makes sense for them I guess, given those will be ~20-30th position overall picks.
And no way they don't sign Meier long-term with all those exports. For NJ's sake, he better keep putting up 30-goal seasons.

  9. Short term, the team with the best player wins the deal, and since Timo Meier went to Jersey, they win – short term. That's why teams make these deals. One is looking ahead, the other is looking at the present. The Sharks are rebuilding and the Devils are in really good shape right now and inching into contender territory. But it will be weird seeing a contending Devils team that isn't playing the full on trap. The last time they were this good, that was definitely the case. They had some good offensive players, but they thrived on frustrating teams until they made mistakes. Now they look a lot more like the teams they played in the 90s than they do that Devils team.

  10. NJ gets an elite forward this year and retain the rights to him in the offseason. He’s staying with NJ.

What did they give up? 3rd line prospect, a couple defensive prospects way down on their depth chart, and some late 1st round picks (that they don’t need).

While the Sharks need help in the pipeline, they took a big L by not adding one of NJ’s top prospects. Seems like every Devils fan is like “seriously, they didn’t get any of the good ones???”

  11. Would rather have tried to pry Neighbors, Hoefer and a first from the Blues.

  12. As A Devils 😈 Fan I’m so happy! I knew that from day 1 we were gonna be the team to land Timo my faith never waivered I’m SOOOO HAPPY I REALLY I PROMISE SHARKS 🦈 FANS WE WILL TAKE GREAT CARE OF TIMO HERE AND GET HIM SIGNED TO AN EXTENSION! We love Timo here ITS TIMO ⏰ TIME IN HERE I LOVE IT! I want to see my team The Devils 😈 Win the Cup soon & I would love to see The Sharks 🦈 win a cup one day soon always been rooting for them.

  13. the fact that they didnt give up Holtz is such a W for Devils. Sharks got fleeced In my opinions

  14. As a Devils fan I really hate that we gave up Nikita for what may ultimately end up being a rental if we can’t sign Timo long term. Would’ve rather given up Bahl or Holtz.

  15. It’s honestly a win for both. Tiki while a great player it’s interesting that he has had a high production year when the sharks were good and then when they weren’t and he was more like a top/key player. When he is on a great team and can just add scoring pop and physicality (like when the sharks were good) that production is huge and a push over the edge type (which is basically what you are putting him back into by putting him on the current Devils team). With the sharks in a transition period he was having to be more a primary guy and while still putting up numbers, there were elements of his game that just aren’t conducive to being one of those star guys on a team. Hanging in to the pick too long, making I’ll advised passes etc. happy for him to get back I. A situation where he can get back to the role he excels more at in the bigger team picture. Coming up on the end of a deal and standing to get paid, it just want realistic for the sharks. I know some sharks fans wanted a bigger ticket prospect perhaps, but need to remember Timo is an RFA at the end of the year and there is no guarantee based on what he might be able to get in the off season that NJ retains him. That right there is going to prevent the return you can get. But they still got some promising players and some good picks and some cap relief which are all things at this point they need to right their ship.

  16. I think it’s good for both teams. Maybe the goal is to make a splash with big names but id say most of the players going to SJ are actually solid and are hungry for NHL minutes. Idk what’s going on with the sharks full roster but if they can sprinkle these acquisitions in for the next couple of years while they get their core business in order…you could certainly do worse. Zetterlund is ambitious and Okhotyuk is mean. Johnsson is streaky and couldn’t crack the roster this year but he could earn nhl minutes.

  17. The problem with sportsnet is you get “sportsnet” every post every crap comment on with idiots posting crap like Chicklets.

  18. ugh this was one i was hoping wouldn't happen because Timo Meier was the best scorer for the Sharks, i had made peace with Karlsson possibly going to the Oilers. Timo was not one i was expecting, i will only say this is mutually beneficial if we see Eklund and Bordeleau get more nhl games on their belt

  19. Honestly, the sharks could’ve gotten more from the Jets but considering how bad the jets have been playing I’m not surprised

  20. Not even trying to being extremely negative. This guy seems nice, and I’m sure has an amazing work ethic but the content is terrible. Cliche, uses same buzz words every video, lazy unoriginal takes, offers little to no insight at all. Poor engagement numbers. I get the idea behind the original experiment from SN BUT Shocking he’s paid to do this. This is why tv networks will die, they think & invest in talent like this.
