  1. We gonna make him TWO TIME STANLEY CUP CHAMPION JACK JOHNSON!

  2. DiamondMine-

Not stoked on this to be honest but I do like him as a person

  3. TheRollingPebble

    Jack Johnson goal incoming.

    But for englund? Why?

Englund has been solid in a 6/7 roll. I’m not sure I like this or that it makes the team better

Edit: ohh, so if the Avs add a depth dman later this week, they’d have to waive Englund. He very likely would have been claimed, so instead of trading a pick and *then* losing him, they just used him instead. For what it’s worth, he’s also a UFA

Makes more sense now, but still a bit disappointing

for englund? not sure i like this.

I mean, this doesn’t seem like a move they’d make for vibes, so I’ll trust that there’s some solid rationale for the exchange. I did feel like Englund acquitted himself well in his time with us this season.

Two head scratchers in a row for Mr. McFarland

  8. FunkySquareDance

I like JJ but I don’t understand this trade at all.

  9. Awkward_traveler

Huh. I’m guessing JJ was a big locker room presence during last year. Also we are all liking Englund for his physical play lately, but he’s an average easily replaceable Dman. He’s 27 and this is his first season playing over 30 games, we can find 5 more of him in free agency. Jack must bring something to the room that’s missing right now.

How official is this? Don’t like this. Englund just started growing on me, seems like he has a good upside

  11. MrMcGibblets0

Literally don’t care about the hockey implication, I love Jack Johnson and am just happy to have him back.

I’m all about vibes after this winning streak

  12. ulfhednar910

I thought Englund was progressing well. I don’t get this trade

  13. PacMansCousin

I think this trade kinda sucks.

  14. ButtsCarlton97

Poor Englund was probably stoked all year for a cup run and now he’s in Chicago

  15. I’m not questioning our leader, but I’m not liking this trade. Just yesterday, I was talking about how Englund has made tremendous progress and added a really physical yet efficient defense. Nothing against JJ but this has me scratching my head

  16. skylan01

Damn, love me some JJ but Englund has been really impressive as of late. I don’t get this one.

  17. GodzillaJrJr

Hopefully this is step 1 in a bigger move for someone somewhere

  18. EdDantes21

I have a similar response to everyone else here. I thought Englund was playing well enough. Plus he’s cheaper and younger. JJ was a nice story last year but I’m not sure we improved

  19. Epicdude141

This could be where they are sending Englund on waivers soon and they wanted a return instead of having him claimed

  20. Appleanche

1:1 player for player this is at best a side-grade..

But when you factor in how popular JJ is in that locker room it’s worth it.

  21. SPRTMVRNN

I generally hate knee jerk immediate reactions to trades but I definitely think Englund is better. I wouldn’t have minded this deal for a low draft pick. Oh well still going to avoid freaking out over a minor deal but on the surface this isn’t great.

  22. maxmc20

This would only make sense if we trade Jack in the week for a better deal with a team that wanted more experience lol

  23. Thegalaxykicker

Alroght yall, we loved englund and all, but im guessing this is the first trade of many to come to prepare for a deep cup run, and I think Johnson#2 will be inportant to fill in for Johnson#1, so lets all calm down and let our management do their magic, since they are undoubtedly the best management team in the league.

  24. mattevs119

In SakFarland I trust. I watch games and drink beer. I’m not qualified to say this is good or bad. But JJ is big and knows our system. Plug and play.

  25. The_Dank_Tortuga

I don’t really like this. England has been solid.

But, hey, I’m not one to question Joe.

  26. davesnotonreddit

With Dermy in concussion protocol, who’s going to throw down and squabble when needed?

  27. The more y’all freak out about this the better I feel about it.
