I have no doubt that if we got past L.A , we were going to win the Stanley Cup.. after Morris goal at Center Ice in game 1 went in, that was the moment i thought it was our year.. then we got Blanked in game 2.. but other than that we played them tough on each game i feel like
If we got past LA we would have won the cup, but lets be honest, even without injury we had zero business making it to the conference finals. Mike Smith carried a fringe bubble team with exceptional goal tending, until we finally got exposed by LA.
The roster itself that year wasnt all that good.
For sure the Coyotes win the cup in 2012. But Quick played outta his mind and what was left of the offense couldn’t figure him out.
We definitely would have beat the Devils to win the Cup
I don’t remember any major injuries on that team in the playoffs? Torres suspension doesn’t make a 4-1 series into a 4-3 win for us, and Hanzal’s suspension was pretty well earned for the boarding penalty on Douchey Dustin.
That team just overperformed and ran into an absolute buzzsaw Kings squad that swept the #1 seed in the first round of the playoffs. Kings got hot when it counts. It happens. The question I have is what happens if Brown gets called for that kneeing major in game 5? Yotes score on the PP and next thing you know it’s a 3-2 series… or what happens if that Doan boarding major in game 2 was called correctly? I believe we were down 1 goal at that time, and the wheels fell off after that.
I was at the game when the kings knocked us out. I remember they played very dirty. Dirty hit on Doan before scoring the game winner.
