I defended the trade and made some comments in response to a Leafs fan in rHockey. He reported me to reddit’s suicide help and called me bipolar.

The only question in my mind regarding this trade is are we sure we are getting last year’s Jeannot and not this year’s? If it’s the former, great trade, If it’s the latter we just gave away 5 draft picks for free essentially

It’s the same story every year. Bolts make questionable trade, fans laugh and call it a fleece, fans watch their team get absolutely dummied by traded player. This guy is like a Barclay Goodrow – Nick Paul combo deal. Physical force with a scoring touch

Trust in JBB. That is all.

It’s pointless to try and judge the value of this trade right now. I trust JBB, but ultimately we wont know whether we got fleeced or not until the playoffs. Until then, I’m just keeping my mouth shut about it.

It shocked me at first. Maybe a pick too many but he’s rfa and he makes basically league minimum so I like it

Far be it for me to question JBB, but giving up so much draft capital when you already have the 3rd oldest team in the league is a bit scary.

I think if you change the wording to a seldom used D man and the 32th pick in 2024 and the 64rd pick in 2023, it makes it sound not so one-sided.

I think we overpaid and not a huge fan of this trade but after listening to JBB at the presser I guess I might be changing my stance. Even though instincts say otherwise, I’m not a GM and how can I not trust him until he proves us wrong. He has a calm way of putting things in perspective and I felt much better about it. Hopefully this works out.

On top of the fact that it’s a decent trade (the odds of one of those picks becoming a full time player is low), Tampa now has 13 forwards on the roster, with some decent pieces up in Cuse (ABB, Koepke). It’s possible that Names or Ross the Boss (hopefully not) or ABB get flipped for picks.
