Sounds like we’re not shopping and he’s leaning on a Burakovsky return from injury to get the chemistry back. Not a bad strategy but if you’re worried about chemistry then you also need to stop with the AHL sampler platter instead of rolling with Sprong.
I still wouldn’t mind shipping Soucy for a first or second. He won’t be back next season and you have to extend Dunn which means bumping up his salary. Plus they love Ryker Evans and I can see them trying to make him a regular next year.
Going to the playoffs for the sake of going isn’t success. Yes, it generates buzz and revenue, but it damages the long term outlook of the team if you mortgage the future for the now. I’d rather sustain success than have a flash in a pan.
Gonna be honest, I like this. Wild trades would be fun, but I don’t know how much I trust them to pay off. I think teams that need to make blockbuster trades to stand a chance in the playoffs probably won’t improve enough from those trades to make the Stanley Cup, which is the only real point. I’m glad Francis is saving capital **and** I like that he’s voicing confidence in the guys we already have.
