Made arguably one of the best saves of all time for this franchise in that pedestal jersey, his off ice work is nothing short of classy and professional, here’s to Fred!

I love Freddy! A bright mark during a tough time to be a Flames fan. He’s super nice in person.

Love his Blasty helmet. A man ahead of his time.

I have a game stick that Freddy gave to me when I was a kid. It was my first NHL game I attended. I remember it very well and he will always be one of my favorite goalies. Great goalie and even better person!!!
Go Flames Go!

For those too young to remember:
In 1998-99 Freddy was a mid-season signing after a series of goaltender injuries. We started that season with Ken Wregget and Tyler Moss as our goalies (Yikes). Both were injured and JS Giguere was called up and struggled so we signed Freddy off the Canadian National Team.
In his first game he shutout the Stars, who were far and away the best team in the league and would go on to win the Cup. He had an amazing stretch of acrobatic goaltending to end the season and stuck around for a couple years. He was the talk of the town for those couple months.
The next season he set a club record for shutouts (5).
Those were some bleak years for the Flames but it was nothing to do with Freddy. He was excellent for us and never gave up on a play. Solid goalie through and through. Probably didn’t get his fair shake in the NHL because he was 5’7″ and the move away from smaller goalies had already begun.

Made probably one of the best save in NHL History that nobody talks about
He had some sick gear as well. It’s a shame we gave him away
Freddy was the man!!
One of my all-time favorite hockey pics is the one of him with Iggy and Fuhr in the locker room
Freddy the Fire Hose!!
Forever a Flame.
Those KOHO pads are sick ngl
I have fond memories of a « Freddy! Freddy! » chant after a wild sequence of saves at one of the few games I attended in my youth.
Not going to lie, when he was traded to the Blues I briefly declared myself a Blues fan I was so angry
Such a beauty. One of my favorites.
Gave it his all every game.
One of my favourite Flames of all time!
I honour Freddie 12 months of the year.
I loved that guy.
